Could they have been off route? I can't imagine any place on Becky's where there is anything even remotely loose.

What an absolute tragedy. My god. RIP Mason.

It was more like 3'x5' , still pretty big. He was downclimbing the 3rd class gully from the start of Lisa's corner to the bottom of Becky's.

I'm not doubting you at all, but I find that so hard to believe. I've been up there dozens of times, up and down, all over the rocks. That's one of the highest traffic areas in the Wasatch. Was it just bad timing after a freeze thaw cycle? Goodness.

Its a huge bummer about Mason, from what i have heard, he was approaching the Dihedrals (Half a Finger / J&M-B&M) platform from the base of Beckeys / Satans and it pulled on him. I have an idea of which flake it was and it always seemed solid to me, i can honestly say I have traversed across that thing too many times to count to avoid the grungy slab section on that approach.

During these freeze thaw cycles, give those approach routes a tap, kick, or palm bump especially when unroped.

    RIP Mason

Sorry, it was the frontside of the 3rd class gully between Lisa's and Satan's/Becky's. Those blocks are kind of shattered in there.

Anyone going skiing later today? Thinking about a 4PM departure. Been at sea level for the entire month though

There’s people out at Alta making turns. But if you want to guarantee yourself a full ski season or at least being healthy for opening day I’d recommend waiting. Snow safety guys are walking on the hill not skiing.

Any thoughts on where the most grassy slope is? Was thinking about taking a lap to two up by the wildcat chair (between stim and punch bowl) and then coming down on path where the groomer will be.

Depending on your knowledge of rock location stim is your best bet. There are clean lines and not so clean lines. Where the groomer typically goes there are rocks and water bars. It’s a personal decision.

Noticing the text has been updated from "October" haha: We are currently working through all of the finer details of the parking reservation system that will be released this Fall. All of the information stated on this page represents our current direction but may change.

Watch for rocks around the fire tanks on the left side of stim.
    Jitterbug isn't a bad option.
Catherine's Pass parking to Alf's, but it's pretty low angle.

    Re; parking.
Sounds like any one person can have two standing reservations, and when you use one, it's freed up to book another. But that was the rumor a long time ago.

    Time for the 21/22 thread?
