^^^that looks like Jupiter. you approaching from empire pass?

by the way, does Deer Valley enforce non access to their slopes, i.e. will somebody get bent of shape if people tour into their ski area?

naw, I came up from the base of PCMR. less driving and more skiing that way. I've done it from Empire Pass as well, then you get to ski Empire bowl on the way home so that's not a bad way to do it and it's a little faster approach.

I haven't heard of anyone being harassed by employees at either resort post-season. Deer Valley does have more visible and better signage than PCMR does saying the mountain is "closed." Lots of access points though so it's easy to plead ignorance/ask forgiveness (I plan to use the "do you know who I am?" defense and claim I live slopeside if I ever get confronted). Lots of tracks on both mountains with visible skin tracks from town, my guess is they "close' the mountains for liability reasons, but who knows for sure. Either way, i try to be stealthy until I'm out of sight of the base areas and respectful of infrastructure, equipment and employees once up on the mountain.

WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS and ASSORTED DRIVAL 20-21

I hate to be this guy, but does anyone have a Bird ticket hookup? I'll be in town next weekend and need to get my fix. This would be for Sunday 5/2.

Don't worry I skied a bunch the last few weeks and rode lifts more last week than probably all season, because if people have free lift tickets to get rid of i'm happy to use em up. Shout out to tgapp for the brighton tickets, made for a nice friday afternoon shred with the wife. Here are some pics from last Saturday, where I think we nailed it with two untracked runs despite some good ole wasangles pressure. Definitely some good storm skiing prior to this bluebird pow day too!

Got up to Alta for their first closing day.... I forgot my yoga mat but it's cool that Alta is offering lift line yoga to keep you warm while you wait for the lifts to open up

    RE: Alta parking

Some details I heard from someone in the know. Not gospel but fairly likely it will look something like this:
    - Parking reservations for sat-sun and holidays - about 40 days total of the 150 day season. No reservations on weekdays.
    - if you ski in the afternoon, after 1-2pm reservations won't be required/enforced
    - Season passholders and folks that buy an alta day ticket online will get to book a spot for free
-Other pass holders (Ikon, MC, Wasatch benefit) will pay $20-25 for reservation.
    - Pass holders will be allowed to have 2-3 reservations on the books at a time, you can make a new one after you use one. Not all parking inventory will be released at the beginning of the season so they should be able to book some as the season goes. if you already have 2 reservations booked and want another one you may be able to buy an available spot.
    - It will be enforced on weekends in all 3 lots including the grizzly lot, the Town parking spots wont be part of the program but the town/other businesses may decide to do something as well.

3 main problems caused the switch:
1- As crowds kept arriving earlier, it became a burden to get the lots plowed on storm days, drive cats and other equipment around the base, set up lift mazes ect... there were days that lots of the staff involved in the getting the resort open were stuck in uphill traffic at 7am that created opening challenges.
2- Turning hundreds of cars around at the end of the bypass road for 4-5 hours on some days was deemed not acceptable by the alta decision makers as well as the public safety folks.
3- there is some hope that the parking fee on weekends will get Ikon passholders to use their 5 days midweek and take the weekend pressure off.

Sounds like alta will try to be really clear that this is basically only a sat-sun morning reservation system and that Alta pass holders will not pay for parking.

Will there also be unreserved parking available on days that reservations are being sold?

not in the parking lots that alta controls. There maybe some in the town of alta or roadside.

What's the best deal out there for Snowbird tickets? I'm out of my ikonic provided days and considering heading up this week if it's looking good

Leaning towards getting AltaBird pass next year but guessing that doesn't work for spring?

Pretty sure if you buy Altabird now it's good for the rest of the season. Regular Bird passes are.

Any word on if/what gold card pass holders get?

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Any advice on where to park in the maze that is Snowbird? Mission is either to load a day on ikon or buy lift ticket and avoid walking a mile. TY in advance!

if you're unsure if you'll end up skiing just park at the snowbird center. walk is flat to get into the building.

if you're sure you're skiing parking on the bypass road and skiing down to the base is a good option. just need to take the correct run to get back to the car at the end of the day.

no reservations anymore so you can park anywhere.

Some super light snow early today. Way better than expected! Snowbird was amazing for a couple hours before it got fogged out but man, that place is a cluster.
