I'm hearing reports of Lisa Falls going to D5 and moving some rather large rocks on the road? All the choss that was loosened up a few years ago probably didn't need much of a push to get moving again.

Probably also some of the riprap we placed at the inlet to the culvert that we replaced the fall before last ....

Got a kid story tonight.
'96-'97 not a bad snow year. Pipeline in pretty good shape that spring.
Went up with Angel, only 2 people aware.
She was six and had a mean jump turn down.
Not slide for life conditions...
By the time we skied it maybe 15 folks aware.
Told her that if anyone asked her about the Pipeline she was to say she didn't surf.
Told me later she used that line a few times.
Two weeks later Big Boss told me I shoulda talked to him about it aforehand; many people aware.
Next fall Miss Ulmer called wanting details for a Powder Mag article.
Told her it was a rumor, but she wasn't buying it. Said she was gonna write it anyway.
Last thing the bird needs is folks bringing kids up there in the wrong conditions.
Had to call the editors to muzzle their bitch...

Coup, to bad my computer at home crapped out a little while back because I have some photos and low res vid from back in mid-March of 2005 or 2006 on it of when we heli bombed Coalpit. Jimmy might remember the date/year better than me since I obviously can't check the image dates Anyway, we'd already had a BIG season and the snowpack was PHAAAAAT .... one of those 200" base years. It was either a Wednesday or Thursday and just raging at Alta; some of the most memorable High Boy, Rus 4, etc runs ever. We tried to open the road at the end of the day to get folks out of the canyon. That lasted not even an hour. A natural came down and swept a van load of canyon emps off the road. They were all ok; just shaken up.

I was in that car! Or at least I'm guessing its the same. March 2006. A friend and I were working at Alfs part time that winter. It was a 20" in 12 hours sort of day at the end of a huge season. We skied all day and hitchhiked down the canyon with a family of 5 or 6 on vacation from Missouri, riding next to the kids in the back seat. I can't remember the slide path, but we were hit with a natural, pushed off the road, rolled several times and landed upside down mostly buried. My buddy kicked out a window so we could squeeze out and we helped the kids climb the steep slope back up to road. There were a bunch of officials parked there but they had no idea we had been swept off. We got a ride home and they dragged the car out the next day... absolutely mangled. Incredible that no one was hurt.

One day about 15 years ago after BCC got one of its multi day pounders that really started to ratchet up the evening before. That night we told guests to GTFO if they were gonna go as UDOT warned us of impending night time closure and reopening TBD. I wasnt sure if my night audit guy was going to make it ( it wasnt Yeti Man or I wouldnt have worried) so I set myself up to stay at the hotel. Just in case.

Next day dawns clear after more than a foot on top of more than a foot that fell all week. Canyon closed indefinitely, resort open, noone skiing aside from employees and folks that live up the canyon. Its as good as you would expect. Country Club indeed.

Only Honeycomb gates that are open that morning are above Honeycomb return and maybe Eagle, so SFB, Treskow and I are riding Eagle looking out at Crystal and beyond.

Treskow comments about the day and SFB says, "yeah its all right, fucking resort lockdown"
