Can't make snow when it's 40 degrees. I'll guess you haven't been in this area for a while?

December opening has already been difficult at the lower elevation resorts in recent years.

I think that at least 9,000 were in this lifeline at Snowbird on 1/23/21.

No kidding, that’s not even close to the snack shack nor the trees at the end of Creek Road.

Interesting that Vail is moving away from reservations, but we're about to have the first season with parking reservations at Alta -_-

Anyone hear additional details? I think the system is supposed to open up next month...

the only saving grace is that ikon passholders have to pay for parking (assuming they have no alta passholder friends)

I'm happy with the way Solitude does it. Pay for a season parking pass. Unless the lot is full, you have a space without wasting time to pay each time that you visit. I would do the same at Collins. However, I ski the cottonwoods weekdays only, and the lot is never full. .... maybe only 2% of the time on weekdays.

I’m extremely unhappy with how solitude does it. I pay $$$ for a fucking annual parking pass and am not guaranteed a spot. My skiing is impacted quite regularly by this as I live 5 min away and am a very opportunistic skier with specific time windows to do so on any given day. I can’t go skiing at solitude on a powder day during my east coast lunch break anymore. (Yeah first world problem for sure but that’s what we’re talking about here, right?)

Solitude should have a section in the lot for annual parking Passholders or some sort of reservation system so that A user can be guaranteed to have a spot when they show up.

The way Snowbird does this seems to work fine and hell they don’t even charge!!!

Edit to add: LOL on parking lot not full on weekdays. On any given week day powder day Solitude‘s parking lot is completely full at 8:30. Come on now, do you even big cottonwood???

Maybe, all I know is that I skied Solitude 12-15X last year, and never had a problem. Granted, I either leave my house in PC by 8:15 or wait until 11:30

Check that, the one time that I arrived there at 10:00am on a Pow day, I was shut out and had to ski PC. My fault for being lazy on a pow day morning. Usually, the lower lot is wide open, and I mostly park w/in 40 yards of Moonbeam

Before it gets too out of hand, note that parking reservations at Alta are weekends and holidays only. Yay me! I don't ski either inbounds unless at Pow Mow.

kinda looks like a rehash of their original Olympic plans minus the golf course. I wish ski resorts would stop with the pedestrian villages that make it difficult to access your car, no better way to kill a resort's vibe and make it bland like every other "vail"

yeah but a place like snowbasin doesnt have anything but the mountain and it may attract more multi pass holders? I know I always heard Earl never wanted beds there, but maybe I heard that wrong. Kids in charge now either way and I don't think any are interested in skiing. Why not another park city? Maybe it will take some of the load off BCC/LCC?
