Amongst all the complaining of crowded trailheads, parking lots, and the backcountry it is easy to forget how good we have it!

Nice shots Norse! My boss has done the ferry commute from BI to downtown for the last 30 years (well, until 10 months ago). He says it has never gotten old during all that time.
Definitely glad we stuck with the summit this year. Been super easy and getting plenty of runs in. Parking control is icing on the cake.

Dweebus skied firm today, no surprise. What was a surprise was the persistent mild windloading (not much to blow around) and the occasional velvety turn in choice locales.
But really: snow, damnit.

Does anyone have any beta on low angle touring in the Mazama area? My wife and I are going to be staying there next weekend, thinking about doing a bit of touring while we're there. Seems like a lot of it requires snowmobile access, but I've never been to that area. Is there anything accessible by car?

The Sno-Park at Goat Creek has some mellow terrain right out of the parking lot but you'll need a Sno-Park permit. There may be some sleds to contend with. There's a pretty good base right now so you can skin right from the car.

was sent some footage yesterday form crystal's underreporting and was motivated to get up to alpental in the afternoon and burn on of my five days. Took my son, immediately when up to chair 2 which was socked in with fog, worked my way down a 1/2 ice , 1/2 fluff nash to the open nash gate. nash traverse started under the waterfall and required a quick steep bootpack at the end. what I hoped might be an excellent run was really working our way down through the debris, chunks and pockets. seemed like a lot of the upper mtn wasn't skiing very well and solid debris everywhere. I'd say they need a good 3 feet plus to get going. had fun skiing armstrong after that. just didn't realize conditions there were that much different than crystal.

Fabulous day, much needed.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

After all these years you don't believe me? I'm flabbergasted!
Pictures are quite the commodity nowadays. My phone is now relegated to my pack since 4 out of 6 zippers on my dream trip pants have blown out. Those frenchies make some beautiful gear but choose to install zippers for the dainty and deft of touch.
