Fucking shitshow. Getting a kid to jump into a rescue mat. But not holding tight on all corners. Fuck. Vibes.

That was tough to watch. Report said she didn’t get on the chairlift properly? So that had to happen?

I’m sure the guy in the bottom left that lost his grip feels like shit...

Those things are designed to catch someone coming off sideways as a trust fall without skis or poles. You never know how it’s going to end up when it’s a kid falling straight down with skis attached.

I don’t blame anyone that walks into that without any experience to catch that fall. Seemed like the liftie was doing as best he could and she’s ok barring some minor injuries.

In Europe (well France at least) they have a nylon wedge on one side of the safety bar, that hangs down so kids can't slide under the safety bar. I have had an instructor ask me in 3 Vallee to ride up with a kid, on the chair, so only one kid rides each chair where the safety barrier is. Then we waited at the top for the Instructor to arrive.

Another day of nordic through the National Park. Checked out a zone for some potential real turns if we get another foot of snow to bring the level up some.

Looks awesome singlecross and half-fast. I worked at WV Nordic for a bunch of years in the 90’s, love skate skiing, need to get back into it. My V2 is strong. Love that feeling of gliding at speed.

Looks like Gore (for those following covid rule), might be good next few days. Might even be good enough to get my ex utah ass out skiing. Wonder if there are any good demos. I got boots but left everything else in utah.

nordorking in the city was awesome tonight. heading back to the car through hardwoods under an orange sky somehow makes everything feel kind of normal. never done this trail, 8k empty free and groomed right past this weird imperial base.

    Canada rocks, ml.

Last minute change in plans lead to a very busy parking lot at the trailhead. We went the other way and didn’t cross another skiers track in the 2k’ vert. afternoon. Sorry no action shots but some pretty scenery.

East Coast Roll Call #??? 20-21 Covid closures and hard core touring! Be Fit or Sit

Northeast Slopes was rippin this afternoon got a comp day at Steaux, what’s the consensus on day next week to use it? Any decent spots near the hill to park the van and sleep overnight so I don’t have to drive in a snowstorm from the Upper Valley? Insight appreciated, had a pass there in college but it’s been 12 years since I’ve pulled into that lot.

I think this map gives you an idea when to ski Stowe P, is overnighting allowed in the Notch lot?
Really need o get to NES this winter, been on the list for years

Super quiet at the bush yesterday, 2 minutes or less wait for a chair in the afternoon, car as a base lodge has temp limits it seems. Still had a woman behind me ask if I was comfortable with her and her husband sharing my chair if they sat to one side, No, wait another 36 seconds for yours.

Gully skiing netted untracked snow, don't follow my tracks kids.

I haven’t over night parked at the notch lot in a while. Things are tightening up around those parts but that could still be an easy spot. Right by the gate where Rt 108 closes for the winter. Walk to the lift... If it’s gonna be puking, parking closer is better because the mtn road is a shit show in the morning. Just try to park out of the way of plow guy.

Our go-to overnight Stowe van spot in the winter has been at Cottonbrook road. Turn on Moscow road south of Stowe and go a few miles out. Parking is flattish and 200yds from the pavement. The snowmobile tour guys have a lot nearby incase you need a blue lagoon in the morning. Only a couple miles from the Mtn road.

Gotcha, yeah even the shaws parking lot in Waterbury center would save a bunch off a 70 mile drive in a decent storm

    sat. nite:
iciest groomers of the season until i found a trail the groomers explicably spared. snow was soft and fun and it felt like skiing.

    That looks good bucket.
Went to Ascutney for my first skinner of the season, can’t get over how much they have done with that place. My favorite spot to ride my MTB is back for winter in a big way!
