Great considering how bad it was the weekend before. Some bare patches and rocks but otherwise good to go. We are for sure open april 11 and hoping for another weekend after that. Tickets are less than 50 now. Woods are no go.
Photos from Easter Sunday. Sunny and empty.
1st is at the top but second at the bottom. Still plenty of snow.

Wildcat was fun, but a bit thin, on Saturday. Nice views.

Ragged closed yesterday, but Sunapee is going another week. Should be interesting after the warm weather coming this week.

How are the vaccinations going in VT? Can I come up to Killington and ski with you guys in May?

Unfortunately I'm working this coming weekend, gonna try for the 17th if they can manage to hold out until then. Way to much can change between now and then though.

I skied Waterville yesterday and there was plenty of snow but they will likely burn out next weekend.

Why don't you go practice fallin' down? I'll be there in a minute.

Weekend after closing is usually great for skinning up Cannon.

Ouch. Didn’t even make the first turn.

But saw this while reading that

    Wtf?
Maybe we should change the law to allow emergency responders to let Darwin take over the rescue operation.

Ugh, that guy posts in the NE BC ski FB group frequently and lives not too far away. Have seen him “BC tour” our rolling hilly mountain bike trails in DE/MD.

In more upbeat news, finished my season of kid ski camp at Whiteface yesterday which was some fun corn harvesting up top, bottom was a slushy mess. Saw a photo of the 8” they got Thurs/Fri and that was for appearances only, as its rapidly winding down.

That was one of four rescues on Sat after one on Friday.

I am not heading up there on a weekend if I can avoid it this year.

    Just this year?

My wife and I were discussing schedules and she suggested I ski on weekends "like normal people."

I responded, "have you ever seen the place on a weekend?"

It's not that people don't many bad decisions on weekdays, but IME the weekday crowd is better equipped in both decision making and poor decision recovery skills then the weekend crowd (as a whole).

Just because other people are getting hurt doesn't prevent one from going.
Just don't stand where someone will take you out if they start to slide.

True, but I also prefer to avoid the crowds.

Are you around this week to ski over there?

Just here to note: I am not Arild Hestvik nor am I 61...and I generally only mountain bike our hilly, rolling terrain. I am in Newark though.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Gas burner, iron skillet, bratwursts? Looks famliar! Only reason I woke up is your text jingle at 9:30, so I was behind the 8 ball. Upside was the snow was a wee bit softer, but not by much. Did 4 runs and had to head home. Upper lot was so full by the time I got up there, they had someone closing the gate to keep cars out from circling around. Glad you guys had a good session. Smuggs looks to close down Sunday, gonna try to play in some corn while the lifts still spin this week. Hikeable snowpack should be around for another week or 2 absent a washout.

Saddleback had a little surprise storm back in and park yesterday. 6” of fresh to whiten the trees. Headed up tomorrow for leftovers.

How the fuck did Suicide 6 qualify for $300k in Economic Recovery Grant Awards when Magic, Bolton, MRV, etc. only got $150k and Cochran's gets $32k?

    Some bullshit right here:

“the Hermitage Club – a member-owned private ski area in southern Vermont with a $50,000 initiation fee – received the maximum award of $175,000. In contrast, Cochran’s Ski Area in Richmond, which offers $19 day passes and primarily serves about 400 local families, received a grant of just over $8,600.”
