that ok its got an open grid floor just push it through....

That thing sorta sucks - nothing like breaking the rhythm of laps then having to take off the skis and walk through a maze... I'll say this - right now as the crowd seemingly thins - especially over the wknd as temps drop and its locked up solid out there you can get some good vertical in. I'll take it.. This is as close to joining a gym as I'll ever come.

First place I ever smoked weed was at Otis Ridge in western Mass. I loved skiing before then, but after that day it was all I could think of. I was 14.

they have one at tremblant from the resort village to the base of the lifts on the south side. Kind of seems like a novelty because it is not that far of a walk.

The "teacups" at the Canyons are awesome as it's a really long walk or shitty bus ride to the base from parking, but Stowes' are much nicer

Conditions in the 70's were surely memorable.

i went back after skiing spademan bindings no less!
yes the debauchery factor on our ski club bus rides was typically at ELEVEN ;0]

Add in the fact that the snowmaking and grooming sucked ballz back then and the crowds were a perfect storm. Amazing me and my friends never got seriously hurt. I tell people I learned to ice skate at VV.

Holy shit..let me ask....you learned at Craigmeiur? I remember my first ski club trips there..I took lessons there, spademans all iced up...great times. Hope it was the same place.

    ^^ CAMPGAW! just once.

and yes, those spademans were the worst...thought you were in until you tried to turn. complete struggle. especially on last run of the day when i took the chair to the top.

next time out was vv/gg. real bindings, before long we were pointing and tucking and i was hooked. and yes, the whole night ski/ debauchery vibe was better than just anything else an early teen could ask for (that and unsupervised outings for tull and yes and styx and genesis at the garden, rush at the palladium.)

^^^ yea jong, the only injury on those trips was a kid who mounted his own bindings and they ripped out. we sat in the bus for an hour or so outside the hospital while he was getting his cast put on.
well, at least he didn't pay for that botched mount. i've PAID for at least one mount that ripped out on the first run. been mounting my own ever since with no such failures.

Our ski club night debauchery was at the now-defunct Alpine Ridge. I don't recall any chaperones. The bus driver had to have been a saint.

Craigmeur Alum... Leather boots, bear traps and long all wood skis with glued & screwed multi-part metal edges. Only the t-bar and a rope-tow that shredded my wool mittens.

The wind has whipped the snow into cream and for the most part the ‘Crete underneath is quiet. Low angle won this afternoon. Click image for larger version.

No I live in goshen, and for a short time worked in rockaway. Took back roads and the last stretch was right down past the resort. Passed 2 times daily for a couple months. Chuckled with memories each time.

I brought my kids a few times towards the end, when it was called Tuxedo Ridge. They did a lot of business there- ought not to have closed

    Wasn't meant to contradict your assessment;
    "semi cheesy company outings"

    it is fitting

Hidden Valley anyone? Went through a few iterations and is now ski/snow introduction to disadvantage children culled from urban public school systems.
