East Coast Roll Call #??? 20-21 Covid closures and hard core touring! Be Fit or Sit
Did some exploring in the backyard country today....
And found some potentially good skiing.
And then headed out to an old favorite, and followed a local’s tracks.
He spilled a bunch of vegan, gluten free power pellets.
But man did he know where to ski.

Different Chute fer sure. The Chute at Magic is a steep, narrow, usually icy stretch on a mostly blue trail on the west side at Magic. Snow plowers regularly ignoring the "Experts Only" signs posted prominently....
I am so close and so ready....
Ayo bringing the stoke...mine pales in comparison:
Ventured into the trees at Magic for the first time this year.
And also had some fun dropping ledges (I don't go big or something might break)
Thanks as always to Goniff for being the lensman.

Can’t find weight on their site, but with my super scientific “pick up one pair, then another pair” method, they are pretty close to the weight of my BCs with the same bindings on them.

What a difference a couple of days and a shift of 20 miles in the storm track makes. So much stoke from the weekend and more snow on the way. Liking how things are going.
Wind was interesting on Sunday with a ramp up around 11:00 that hit harder at 3k' than the summit. Lifties were running HG so slow you just waited and waited for the chair and sat down when it arrived, lifty didn't even have to bump it and just watched us sit down.
Shouted out to Eug in line ahead of us, great to see you around.
This is always a sign of good things to come
Happy to get a flat right side Middle Earth finally.
Home through the forest was great

Even the experienced get in trouble, one lucky to have made it. This weeks shenanigans should prove interesting. Lets hope benny gets some skiing in this week so he can post something other than liftline pics from the net.
Get after it!

What???
“The running shoes, tights and lightweight insulating jacket and waterproof shell were not enough to allow this person to remain in place until help arrived. Once in the snow ranger cabin, several hours on the floor heater with dry clothes and the Norwegian heater were required to start the needed shivering again and to raise core temperature from the low 90’s Fahrenheit back to normal. “

Yea, what? Apparently can go car>summit>car in 4 hours but still thinks 80-100 mph wind is ok. Maybe hoping for a tailwind to set a faster run?

Seems like most people didn't have MLK day off at Jay. Was able to ski on with no wait at the triple for most of the morning since all the crowds were over waiting for the Flyer which opened for a bit before going back on wind hold.
Plenty of untouched to be found in the woods and looking like this week is going to continue with cold temps and a few inches of refresh every day. Only pic I got since my hands were cold and I was skiing by myself.

Nice work all and thanks for spreading the stoke this season where a lot of us can't get up north. The pics/reports and road biking to work are pretty much the only things keeping me sane at this point.
And speaking of the rockpile, Wildcat needs to move that damn snow gun directly blocking the view of Tuck's on the webcam. Summit finally looks like it filled in a bit after this past weekend at least.

Still snowing in SoVt - 4th day in a row and getting close to 2’
Snuck in a couple of laps in the afternoon and the hill was blessedly empty. Man, the skiing is good right now.

Great news singlecross, enjoy
Big changes might be coming to my old ski hill. When Nick and Susie Preston were coaching there, we had some of the best freestyle skiers in the country.
