East Coast Roll Call #??? 20-21 Covid closures and hard core touring! Be Fit or Sit

    Really sad
I ate a half a dose and went skiing, tried not to think about how quickly things can go sideways.

i was pretty close w ian for a while, legit ski partner. we went to katahdin twice, mrg, lots of adk bc.

hadn't talked w him in 10 yrs or so, i called brain mohr about who's handling things going forward. i know he was not close w his siblings, parents passed. if anyone sets something up post it here. financially he may need some help.

^ this is all ian and me, wow, i forgot i made that. def serves perfect, skiing deep and loving it. if someone can embed it great, it's a great tribute.

Just crushing to read/watch the above posts, condolences to all who knew him, which clearly is many here. Reminds me of Ryan Hawks, obviously different tragic circumstances but two incredibly talented skiers and athletes who just loved being on snow and more importantly, sharing their experiences with friends.

Sorry, Hardy's post says 2/1, but news is saying 2/2. 2/1 it was low.

He was out there Monday Feb 1st. We didn’t realize he was missing till Tuesday afternoon.

    The slide occurred Monday afternoon.

Low in an Ammonoosuc main ravine pinch. There are some bad traps in there that could really funnel snow into a big pile.

Even if he had partners, digging that deep would take a lot of time. Ian skied solo all the time. When you tour a hundred days a year it gets hard to find partners...

    RIP it buddy

SoVT continues to deliver, the wind was just enough to buff the fuck out of everything. Soft fast turns all over the hill. This has been one of the best stretches of skiing in SoVT, I can recall.

This is why we can't have nice things.

    Dear Night Skiers & Riders:
We love you, but we definitely need to reel the good times in just a bit.
Effective immediately, we will not be allowing open containers in the parking lot after 4 pm. We've had some issues with a very small number of guests that really leave us no other option as we see it. We love a good time, but we also pride ourselves in providing a family friendly atmosphere and a few recent incidents with unruly guests have led us to this conclusion.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
    All the best,
    Team BV

expect to have 'er back on snow tomorrow!

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Maybe this belongs in the bike thread...idk...but grooming fat bike trails has never been so much fun now that many of us have these Altai Hok skishoes. The sorel tele turn is still quite difficult for me and running long poles for the short downs adds to kookyness. Anything more than a handful of turns is worth adjusting, otherwise just run it!
Dragged a pow surfer for even more fun...and of course beer.

Nick was working his ballet moves.

Is it sacrilegious to melt snowman?

Nice Strawjack. Rusty G has those same “skis” and has posted Hok stoke in the past.

Here’s what I did for skiing today - 13 holes per ski but they are telemark sex machines now.

I dislike wondering if I knew someone when I read a news report like that, and I dislike finding out I did even more; this one hits a little close, having spent more than a few days in alpine terrain solo.

Vibes to those close to him.
