Does anyone have any insight into how the team event was seeded? Why does Norway the world champ get seeded 4th?

NM found it. It’s based on Nation Cup Standings. https://assets.fis-ski.com/image/upl...mpionships.pdf

Liensberger wins the Slalom Globe. I told you Vlhova would not hold on for the SL Globe.
But Petra only needed 4 points today to secure the Overall Globe. Big congratulations to Petra for putting down a grueling season to amass over 1400 points!
It's a shame that Lara Gut did not get the opportunity to challenge Petra's Overall with the DH and SG being canceled.

    Don’t see a 2022 thread, so...

Travis Ganong’s Super G run starts at 8:35 into the Peacock (replay) broadcast.

There’s an American Downhiller thread in the Music, Books & Films forum, and I posted this vid there, but it’s a pretty cool watch/listen, particularly with the downhill this weekend, so thought I’d post here as well...

Anyone that has Peacock, go watch this morning's DH....or look for replays of the winning run......Man, that Val Gardena course is a wild one!

    just sayin'!!

Breezy was again 2nd to Goggia at Val D' Isere...and this time it was close. She nailed it! While Goggia racked up her 7th straight WD DH win.

Michaela is entered in the SG tomoro.

Does anybody watch this stuff on YouTube through your cable system? I just sort of discovered it tonight. Men's Super G with no commentary. I have encountered that "quiet" broadcast in bike racing, too, on Peacock.

Looks good, if not as hi res as NbcSports.

That crash cost Nikki her season. Good to see her back at it.

On Eurosport. At least until the race is in town, then I watch it live live.
Last year I volunteered for course help so then it was in the nets live.
We are lucky, we get the guys and gals.

My favorite downhill on the World Cup is Val Gardena in Italy. It’s basically a ski cross course on steroids. Huge 60-meter step-down jump. I think you leave the ground 20 times throughout the course. When you get to the finish, all you want to do is jump back on the gondola and do it again.

    also, this is awesome
WE ALSO HAVE A Q&A IN THIS ISSUE WITH FELLOW TAHOE NATIVE AND U.S. TEAMMATE TRAVIS GANONG. WHEN TRAVELING AROUND COMPETING AGAINST THE FASTEST SKIERS ON EARTH, IS IT SAFE TO SAY THAT YOU GUYS SHARE A SENSE OF PRIDE REPRESENTING AN AREA WITH SUCH A RICH SKIING HERITAGE IN ITS OWN RIGHT?
I mean, we are the best skiers on the mountain, so not really. Hey you, yeah you, reading this, I’m so much better at skiing than you. I’m just incredibly grateful for being raised in Tahoe. There’s been so much Tahoe influence in my skiing career. It’s been fun, and I think that’s what’s so cool about Tahoe skiing culture. It’s fun and lighthearted and people are good at it, so you push harder to become better.

This should go online in a day or two...

Next week, the podcast will cover the most dangerous downhill on the circuit as the men’s circuit visits Kitzbuhel, Austria for the running of the Hannenkahm downhill. Daron Rahlves is the only American Downhiller winner of the Streif in the modern era. He will describe what that win meant next week.

In the interim, this is fun, and educational...

Would never think of world cup downhill boards as floppy noodles, but check 2:27! The speed and forces these racers experience is well beyond my comprehension, but man am I excited to watch! Go USA!!
