You do know what herd immunity is, right? The metrics should include the entire herd without exclusions, if that's the goal of course.
my understanding is that the goal of 70-80% takes the children into account. Meaning they believe we only really need 60-70%. Doesn't matter that much though since the red states are hovering at just over 50% and anyone can get a shot (in most cases just by walking in), but they choose to enter the death lottery instead.

oh ok. Are you also a "Doctor"? Lol, jk. I think the Dr I was referring to was actually introduced as the infectious disease specialist from the Jewish General in MTL or maybe from a hospital in TO (Ivan Bogosh or something). They keep interviewing the same few Docs from different hospitals.

In Quebec the vaccinated percentages are being fed to us by the national public health institute, not the media. I guess i'm just saying, I'm gonna go with what the experts say because i don't know shit. I don't really know anything about heard immunity, I'm not a doctor, I'm not a virologist. I'm just a dumb fucking cannuck.

But we have pretty good institutions in Canada, particularly in QC. And Canadians have a little more faith in their institutions than Americans do in theirs (i think). So I'll go with the expert advice that is given. And note that the advice coming from the institution is not what is spread and manipulated by political masters or the biased media outlets. Although to the benefit of the Quebec government currently in power, they have been doing an OK job of acting on the advice from their non-political health officials. Quebec is one of the few places that kept schools open during the pandemic. Closing schools was a last resort, since this allow parents to continue to work and remain somewhat sane. Schools outbreaks were dealt with by closing affected classrooms and doing targeted contact tracing. So like Legault said, and probably what JT will say too, 75% of the eligilble pop vaxxed, then the border opens. Heard immunity would be nice, but i think the objective is really to ensure that the health care system is not overwhelmed. Unvaxxed <12 yo are not going to overwhelm the healthcare system. I don't know if we will ever reach heard immunity with the emergence of new variants etc. I think we will probably have to deal with this virus for many more years to come and might require boosters along the way.

i don’t disagree with you that it COULD be done, but there is a lot of effort in getting people to agree across state lines on the how.

I’d like to see the border reopened on the 22nd btw.

We can agree on the last two sentences you wrote.

Herd immunity is also depends on the r-naught value for the specific virus. Herd immunity for something contagious like measles is around 95%, while herd immunity for polio is more like 80%.

The US and Canada will never reach those numbers, so again refer to your last two sentences and let's move on...

Criminal records are accessible from the chip in a passport at the border even though (most) are not of a federal nature. It works fine.

But more to the point, the current system does not require coordination or even reporting beyond the responsible recorder (county, local health district, state or fed depending on who gave it). When we get to a point where people are genuinely (as opposed to ideologically) scared of getting a shot we can worry about counterfeiters. Until then it's very much like voter fraud. Which isn't.

Ok, so HOW do you ensure every local recorder reports this. Seems like with criminal justice there is a path. Or maybe that was a bumpy ride too? But, there is no way to get this from zero - sixty to satisfy the needs of the people in this thread to get to BC to fuck around as soon as possible.

I mean, it has been documented by people here that their border state did not record who was getting the shot.

As far as 'vaccine passports', not everyone here got documentation that they received a vax. I can't imagine that even with 'single (http) server' healthcare... they aren't going to just want to open it up to everyone, including foreigners, to check health records. So, could they have been working on this without our knowledge the whole time? yah. But if they have made no progress and still have all of those sticking points...

    well shit.

Of course you do, paid for by the rest of Canada to keep the separatists under control and buy federal votes. If you went to school or the hospital in Quebec you can thank Alberta.

The few skiers don't amount to big numbers, the vast majority of people in Canada are back east and the vast majority of people wanting to cross either way are also back east ?

our schools in BC were open all year, source: wife's a teacher and while there were a few cases in her school it was actually not at all rampant.

You misunderstand. The record keeper is the recorder. They need not report to anyone, they just jot down what they did or what was done by authorized parties on their behalf. I can call my local health dept and ask for my records if I need a(nother) copy.

I got mine from a hospital who knows me and all I had to do was tell them who I was. They handled the rest and as far as I know the only party that knows I'm vaxed is the hospital and the health district. But maybe they told the state and they just didn't tell me. Maybe that happens a lot and people are freaking out for no reason afterwards because it seemed too easy. Which is exactly how it should seem.

How do you think all these lotteries and other weird incentives are being done? How do you think the providers get paid? They have the records.

Schools have required vaccination records for students for many decades and the unvaxxed have not been sneaking in. You can write your congressman if you want it all overhauled. Gives you a chance to tell him how concerned you are about all those fake voters, too.

Every 10th plate is TX here in Bellingham as well. Can't tell whether it's tourism, permanent migration, or what percentage of both.

Still haven't seen the onslaught of The Smuggest Place on Earth plates yet though.

    Climate refugees.
Which brings up a solution to America's southern border problem. Put all the immigrants in buses and take them to Canada. It's where they're all going to end up sooner or later anyway.

I never showed an ID once when I was vaxed in Oregon. Maybe they have record of it but I am guessing no. I don’t have a cdc card with two stamps that they made be fill out. So there is that. My guess is that the vax passport is going to be an honor system at this point if it ever is a thing.
