How do you prove you were vaxed, its kind of controversial but it was inevitable, IMO anti vaxers made their own choice

I disagree. There's nothing in the article suggesting that the opening would only be Point Roberts.
To me this statement implies the entire border, but it certainly isn't explicit:
a highly placed source in the Blaine port of entry told local immigration attorney Len Saunders on May 25 that the U.S. intends to unilaterally open the land border without restrictions between the U.S. and Canada on June 22.

"Can't currently be verified" by the border guy in the booth. So far, there's no American government agency that's behind the idea of a vaccine passport.
I like the idea of putting it on driver's licenses (like organ donor). One less thing to carry. But obviously politics will prevent it.

Why does the vaccine card need to be verified? Why can't people just bring their stupid CDC paper card that can easily be forged? That's what I did at the baseball game the other night to sit in the vaccine section. Do you really think that many people are going to refuse to get vaccinated, and then forge a card just so they can go to Canada? What's the risk that the very small percentage of people who would do this would actually bring COVID into Canada in with them? They would be committing both a US and Canadian felony. If caught, they would be permanently banned from entering Canada. The possibility of jail time in both the US and Canada is a huge deterrent on scamming your way into Canada. Governments need to think simply for problems like this and not add more government bureaucracy.

Yeah grinch, like Shorty said - it's definately not all 'Bertans. As always a very vocal minority of ignorant dipshits will taint an entire province (or country, looking at you US). Further, I read somewhere that Kenny's numerous fuck ups have really upped the popularity of the NDP again in oilberta... so hey, ya never know.
Back on topic though, "a unilateral opening" at this point by the US for its citizens coming to this country would not be popular here (Terrace and Canada).“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Sure some people will forge a card. Most won't.

I wasn't making the economic argument, and that's a valid point, but most of the cross border shopping revenue goes straight to Costco. Add Trader Joe's, Sierra Trading Post/Ross, Silver Reef Casino and Discount Tire, and the local small business are fighting for the last sliver of that pie.
Every business in this town has a help wanted ad/sign, so it hasn't impacted retail labor.
So the county is missing out on its 1.4% sales tax, and the city is missing out on its 2.2%, which is definitely something.
And the businesses at the border that cater to Canadians receiving online purchases are obviously in trouble.
All of that said, the sentiment here is that people miss being able to go to Vancouver and Whistler, but don't miss the traffic and long lines at the gas pumps.
As for the B.1.617 variant, I heard that in person directly from my friend who works at the hospital. They know it's on both sides of us, and are watching it closely. The feeling I got was that they know it's coming, but don't want anything to happen that might speed its arrival.

Ask yerself when is a good time to open borders to a country that killed 600,000 of their own people, a country with so much vaccine hesitancy that its necessary to pay people and thats just the lazy and/or dumb people who are not politicaly opposed republicans ?

You know the answer: border guards gonna guard.
BITD I used to drive across the border with nothing but a driver's license (that nobody ever asked to see).
Just before the pandemic hit, you absolutely could not drive a car with American plates through any of the four mainland crossings in the Fraser Valley into Canada without being asked for a passport, nexus, or enhanced drivers license. And they would scan it every single time.

The way I read that AD article is that US is going to allow Canadians to start coming to the US. I don't believe the US has any power to force Canada to let Americans in. But how I see this playing out is Canadians from Vancouver will flock to the Bellingham stores Ted mentions en masse, and then will be pissed when Canada tries to force them all into a 14 day quarantine upon return (yes, yes, they are idiots for trying this, but there are idiots up there too). This will put tremendous pressure on Canada to start easing restrictions. The allure of cheap gas and Traders Joe will be too great.

I'd wager that lots of people in Vancouver would cross for their second vaccine dose, and gladly quarantine upon arrival back home.
The full gas tank, cheap wine, and peanut butter stuffed pretzels would be the icing on the cake.

wait, do people stock up on wine and then pay the duty? for a trunk full of two buck chuck maybe the quarantine wouldn’t be so bad.....

Yes.
And from what my friends in Vancouver tell me, the border guards let lots of purchases slide as long as you don't lie to them.

Thats good yo sed. I was generalizing. A lot love the tough talk even when theyre shooting themselves in the foot and its just a ruse to funnel tax payer $ to big business. Look at all the shit Ralph Klein pulled and they kept voting him in. The guy went to a poor house drunk as a skunk and threw pennies at them. Zero consequences
