B.C., provincial health officials last week reiterated their recommendation against non-essential travel, recommending skiers to stick to their local mountain. Pique Magazine followed up with provincial health to get clarity on whether Lower Mainland skiers can travel to the resort, and got back a canned statement that did not definitively say one way or the other.
“I think because the way it was announced as a travel recommendation or guidance, I bet we will see some folks from the Lower Mainland,” said Whistler Blackcomb C.O.O. Geoff Buchheister.
“My request of those people is when they step up to Whistler Blackcomb that they recognize we’re at a critical time with the pandemic. As we open, we’re embracing a new set of policies and procedures and we’re asking our guests to employ the layers of protection, specifically, face coverings and distancing.”
Because lift staff won’t necessarily know where guests are travelling from, Buchheister said it is important they use common sense when visiting the mountain.Last edited by KevLar; 11-25-2020 at 02:56 PM.

The only hope we have is that the reservation cap limits the numbers to avoid an upload gong show each morning. And what happens to singles trying to upload on a Gondi? They get one to themselves guess. I only rode the bc Gondi this summer and that was case but it wasn’t busy so no big deal.

Start skinning up around midnight tonight. You'll have the mountain to yourself until about 10 am tomorrow.

What about today?
Anyone here part of the big posse of VIPs that tracked the shit outta the resort?
Not being one of those I was getting my pow somewhere else.

from one washed up injured Blackcomb Patroller (sitting in Mexico ) to all of you lot: Have an awesome opening day! Have a safe season.
Getting lots of reports from the crew: still very Sharkey, but good turns are out there.
Last season was the first year since I was 2 years old that I didn't get an entire day on skis... Hopefully this year is different. Please keep a distance, wear a mask and wash your hands!

Webcams looked better than I expected. I think they definitely played it safe on capacity today.
