ECRC Ullrfest 2020 - the Simulation

Okay folks, it’s that time of year in a ongoing virtual world. So figure out how to do it alone, together, and Covid free but be sure that Ullr knows you haven’t forgotten about him on Saturday, October 17th.

There won’t be a large get together, a pig or lamb roast, a Freeride Systems give away, or a cauldron of spiked cider but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.

Volunteer for some trail work, wax your boards, or simply longingly stare at that peak you can’t wait to shred.

So figure out how you can safely share wishes of a great ski season while remaining physically distant from other mags (honestly this may be for the best) and share pics on this thread.

Maybe more than ever photos of years past should be posted, as well as your plans for this Saturday.

    Praise Ullr.

It's going to be a while before we can even think about trying to top last year's Ullr-fest thanks to Peruvian and Mrs. Peruvian (how's that Cana-butter working?).

I kind of feel like Ullr-fest has played out here. Haven't had a ton of new mags come to see the shenanigans; it's the same base crowd every year. While I truly do love the friends I've made at past Ullr-fests, I haven't really met anybody new lately. So many of the awesome folks can't seem to make the time and guys like Kokomas have moved on to whiter pastures.

I say let it go this year and see if we really miss it. If so, we can rent BD's place on Air BnB next year and hold it without him

October 17 happens to be the annual Volunteer glade cutting Day at Plattekill. Might be a good option for folk who are still banned from visiting Vermont. Last year they got a great turnout but there’s a lot of work to do so the more the merrier. I’ll be there. If you guys decide to bring back Ullrfest next year I swear I’ll try to make it and bring some community booze and Booze branded Tshirts to give away.

Can’t be a fest if you don’t invite people!!!

In honor of ULLR, I went to the local ski swap and picked up my first pair of adult skis!!!

Are they beat? Yes (but bases are perfect)
    Do I have guts? Yes!
We’re they only $150? Yes (so what could go wrong????)

    Praise ULLR!!!

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

^^^ That ski is Ullr approved. I can’t wait to get on my pair that I picked up for this upcoming season. Good choice!

The Plattekill work day was a success. This is possibly the bit I’m most excited about. We cleaned out a nice line above that rock. It empties onto an existing trail so there’s a nice big landing area. Hopefully Ullr will be pleased.

We feasted on pulled pork, hash browns and cole slaw, played some petanque, and enjoyed a fire with some of the rye whiskey that made its way into that flask last year.

went mountain biking on Saturday, saw the snow covered peak of Mt. Washington in the distance and gave a blessing to Ullr for the first snowfall of the year while thinking to myself "damn I can't wait to ski"

hope everyone is staying safe and praying for snow - cheers
