    ATK Spacer

Not sure if this has come up or anyone else has done this, but I added this to my Ion LT last year, and man it is night and day different. Feels like I'm on a completely different binding

Went from floatong on pins to standing on the spacer

    More damp, solid and powerful.

Lost a bit of the flat mode, but barely noticeable and the trade-off is way worth it.

So is that mounted to the binding or drilled into the ski? And presumably adjustable itself for say different boots?

Mounted to the binding but could be mounted directly to the ski as well.

And yes it is adjustable for varying boot sole thickness.

I'm a tool gaper: How did you mount it to the binding? Screw into plastic?

The spacer separates into two halves and has spots to put screws through. I used a self drilling screw and epoxy.

I purchased through Skimo.co. Picked up at the store but they have many shipping options

Got it, thanks, so that's the one meant to mount on ATK's bindings? I was thinking it was the "universal" one. Possibly the only difference is what kind of screw they include? https://www.atkbindings.com/en/prodo...sories/al05-2/

Umm as far as I know it is the same as the universal one. It just didn't come with screws for mounting to the ski. My guess is that is the only difference

Got to be a little bit careful. I bought spacers from Hagen and they were the AL 06 spacers. They are quite a bit taller minimum height than can fit with my boots and pin height at the heel.

The AL 05 are lower. I ended up getting some from Europe. Not mounted yet.

Got it figured! Bonus for sollyfit users - one the two holes mentioned lines up perfectly with free holes just ahead of where a speed turn ends, making for perfect placement.

    ATK Spacer

Thanks for posting this up! Love my LT12 and Ion12’s but hate the heel slop on the LT’s. Hopefully this fixes that.

Heel slope? Do you mean ramp angle? The Freeride Spacers won't change that. You're still looking at a toe shim (assuming the heel is too high for your taste).

I like this idea of attaching to the binding rather than the ski, I wonder if it would fit on the helio/trofeo adjustment plate. Hmm...

Yeah the slop from floating on pins is entirely gone

Can the spacer be mounted in front of the helio adjustment plate or do you have ditch the helio adjustment plate mount the binding straight to the ski and put the spacer right up against it?

That all depends on your boot really.

Initially I wanted to mount the spacer directly to the ski and the adjust the height. But even at its highest setting there was still a gap.

But you certainly can mount in front of an adjustment plate. As long as you have some heel of the boot to come in contact with it shouldn't be a problem.

Sneaked on youtube Hoji's version of Dynafit freeride spacer. All the skiing is with toe locked exclusively.

A bit off-topic but also finally saw this new 4frnt skin tour-lock hole thing operation from the first hands. Looks much easier than reaching the tail of the ski.

That’s a crazy binding set up. No heel lifter adjustments. Flat or on the heel housing or just flat all the time? Like seeing that the crew was setting reasonable skin tracks. Hint hint to all NA skiers. I’m also guessing he’s reverted to his old Dynafit modification, ie: stacking the heel spring to increase release value. So he’s probably skiing DIN 30 toe, 20+ in heel. Dude is a stud.

Hi all- curious if anyone knows where I could buy the ATK universal spacer? Not seeing it on the usual suspects like Skimo or Cripple Creek, and the European shops that seem to have stock (Ie sportler) don’t ship to the US

Dang Skimo must've sold out word travels fast I guess.

It seems they are no longer under the link I posted earlier in the thread.
