There's a 3 star scheduled for Blackcomb on March 30th....
I don't know anything about anything, but lets get that 4 star moved up here

Perhaps they never had permission to use the lookers left side of the cirque as the venue? That's the N facing stuff that still holds the snow.

I love blackcomb with every bit of my jaded heart, but that venue is good for kids or huck and pray and thats about it, plus Its like 6-8 turns at best. I really wish we had a decent venue. Maybe in armageddeon/apocalypse area, although i've only ever seen that from Phalanx

    Are you taking about Sudan?
    What about Diamond/Ruby?

You’re probably right though. As much as I’d love it, the WB terrain just doesn’t have the necessary pieces.

Will they even get enough competitors brave enough to ski mammoth?

Can anyone confirm if that was Kaj’s last comp run?

I remember watching it live, then seeing his interview and him saying how glad he was to be in the finish. I remember thinking “Thats what I said the day I retired from competing. Kaj just retired.”

    /pure speculation.

It did 20 years ago....Freeskiing world tour...the only problem was it was to gnar and they didn’t want to hold it ever again....

Yeah but that was the huck and pray era. Does that venue hold up these days? I’m too biased to say honestly, but I don’t think it does (but I wish it did).

Watching those comps back in the day was crazy. Some of the biggest airs I’ve ever seen in person.

They seem to be handing out wild cards like tic tacs, so sounds like it might still be on?

No one is ever truly ready for mammoth. At some point you have to push through your fears.

And on topic: there should be some weather moving in. If they can ürolong the waiting period a day or two it could work. Otherwise April 3rd looks best.

Calling it now though is just not trying.
They are still holding the 3* event on the 29th and 30th and for some reason Tahoe Freeride is still asking for volunteers on the 31st.

    Freeride World Tour

Meanwhile I’m seeing pictures from friends in AK and it’s just absolutely stacked. I know the Chugach and Todrillo aren’t nearly as gnar as the Pyrenees but one of the best seasons in a long time. What a shame.

That link someone posted about kirkwood being cancelled is from 2021. Is the 2022 3* on the 29th and the 4* on the 31st still happening?

Sorry that was my post. But I do know they are considering to move it and because I know what resort they asked to have it at instead (I don't want to post that here) - my guess is they will have it anyways at KW even though they don't want to. Was hoping someone else would give me the heads up on what is happening. No news might mean it's on at KW.

And there is this 4* event too - I'm confused now if KW is actually the 'big' end of the year qualifying event like I thought - maybe both are?

KW event isn't listed on the FWT.com site, ha.

^^good eye gimpy. i wasn't seeing it on the fwt website either, but that's because it defaults to only showing the region 1 (europe) events. It's still happening (and apparently there's a 4* event at Big Sky today).

edit - ^the Gurgl event is the finals for region 1, Kirkwood is the finals for region 2.

Kinda sucks that they give plenty of info for the Region 1 event, but zero info for the red headed step children over here.

The FWT website has region 1 events and the IFSA website has the region 2 events. https://www.freeskiers.org/events/ifsa-events.html Lots of action in the FWQ series right now.
