Navarro gets a wild card. My feelings are mixed.

Yeah, did a lot of skinning and skiing on our closed resorts that winter. Work was non existent so it was skin, ski, shovel. Got close to 70 days on that program it was definitely a winter I will never forget. It sure helped that it snowed to The Valley to the tune of four feet in January

He is super exciting. I’m mostly cool about him getting wild card but I’m just saying maybe there might be a more deserving candidate out there who did not get 2 no-scores last year.

If there's someone else that'll tee up the lines that Aymar does and keep their shit together 100% of the time, then by all means they should be on the tour. But I haven't seen anyone new on the tour that approaches the mountain like Aymar does - a full emphasis on technical burly lines and big high speed airs, with zero emphasis on trickable features.
And don't get me wrong, a bunch of the new guys on the tour are awesome to watch and are hugely impressive skiers. But they're bringing something different to the table than Aymar, and the comp is more interesting to watch with Aymar in the mix.

I'm a fan of Aymar. But I think I might have been angry at his line choice last year when he straightened and tomahawked. I think I have too much emotionally invested in these comps. I'm kind of retarded like that.

This. I don't want to go full oftpiste here, but it's a comercial enterprise and I'm pretty sure money had an influence on that willcard decision. He brings the iberian and Latin American viewers in.
I like Aymar, as others have mentioned he brings the old school big mountain riding to the tour. But like subtle I don't want to watch that shit again live. If you need a reminder, check bottom half of page 36 in this thread. That was fucked

I guess i was flaming.... in the very beginning if the shut down.... there was a significant snowfall with high rainline after.
I remeber seeing something on insta about a van trip to kaunertalerglacier. So it could be that there is footage of this early 2020 shutdown trip is in the movie.
To aymar, i guess it is good for the show. But i am afraid he will kill him self. But it is his decission. So if he thinks it is cool what he does....

We'll see if he checks into this thread once the season gets going, but I'm guessing he chose to be done after all of those years on tour vs. not getting an invite back. Probably figured it was time to let some of the younger guys get a spot. Always loved his style, though.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Keep an eye on Xander Guldman boys. He's a contemporary and friend of Thing 2 who opted to finish school before getting back into the fray of comps. I watched him grow up in juniors from probably 12 years ago.
When he was a junior he used to win EVERYTHING and is a beautiful, ballsy and extraordinary skier, not to mention like the nicest guy in the world. He once said Thing 2 was the only competitor out there he was afraid of, but this will be his time to shine. I'd have loved to see them out there together.

Low Pressure Podcast episode with Tom Peiffer. Lots of FWT talk, especially in the first half.

Oh for Christs sake. Nobody WANTS to Die, but he's taking a lot more risk than what is even remotely controlable. They all push it and may injure themselves in the process but his runs are straight on the "better not mess this up side" of things. And yet he constantly does. He accumulates a lot of risk. Just like hilaree nelson. Only in a different way. But the outcome may well be the same.
It's not likely percentage wise in one run, but since he messes up scary lines again and again it becomes likely.
Just like high altitude Alpinism in the Anapurna range has nearly a 5% death rate per ONE Expedition( which is absurdly high for any recreational activity ) it just accumulates..... and since someone will surely question my numbers:

If Tof or schirmer eat it, I don't have to see it. But the Broadcast is live.....It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Freeride World Tour
If the possibility is that upsetting to you perhaps don’t watch? They’re all putting themselves at risk to a certain degree.
I’m not being glib here. I can’t really watch the Red Bull rampage anymore… things are so insane now when guys stick their runs I’m more relieved than stoked. I’ll watch the highlights afterwards, however.I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

I usually do that(watch parts of it).
What kind upstsets me is not his behaviour, but that they reward it.
No way im against big mountain or technical lines....you just have to make me believe you're in control. Even our loose Cannon Bimboes had me more convinced that aymar.
Smoothys arcalis line is still one of the greatest because I believed he totally knew what he was doing. Aymar can't convince me . And that scares me.It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.
