TR Centennials
Unlike snow, mountain biking trails get better with a certain amount of use. These trails certainly would be better with more use. Still have never seen another mountain biker in the Centennials, although we did see a track for part of our ride this time. We rode Taylor Fork to the Aldous Lake Trailhead, and then did a short ride up to Hancock Lake the next morning. From the top of Taylor on we were on the CDT Northbound. Camped right at the Aldous Trailhead, which has a nice little site with table and fire pit.
Took a little to find the start.
Climbing up out of Taylor Creek. Nice steady climb, almost all rideable.
Last mile of climbing was on an old road bed with no trace of traffic. Easy grade but tediously rough. Needs tires.
Top of the climb, looking back at Taylor Peak.
Commence meadow skipping. Miles of top of the world CDT meadow skipping.
About 4 miles from the end we came across this nice high Montana meadow.
One more easy climb and then it was a fun down to the Aldous lake Trailhead. I think it was 18 miles, maybe 3000' of climbing. Highly recommended.

Next day we rode up to Aldous and then Hancock Lake. Riding to Aldous is fun, riding down from Hancock is fun too, but the last mile up was a good bit of hykabyk.
Lots of down fall, we cut out everything 12" and less.
Nice little lake. (how do you fix this? It wasn't upside down on my download.)
Bear box took a hit.

Saw lots of bow hunters in camps and parking lots, but no one all day long. Zero bear sign either, more surprising.

Thanks for all the effort to put a TR together. I couldn't even be bothered to put a pic into the Go Forth and Ride thread (which is my favorite). An amazing couple of days on bikes, so pleased to be able to do that after knee replacement in April!
Here's one of us at the high point of this section of CDT:

There was a sign but I don't remember where. Sheep Experimental Station always makes me laugh.
