What is the best college ski town?

It is coming time for me to tackle college applications and I am facing two schools of thought: go to either UNC or Wake and make my parents happy or go to a school that will make me happy. Well, skiing is what makes me happy. Thus, I want to go to a college that affords me the opportunity to ski, preferably everyday. Does such a school exist?

You should really reconsider your college plans.

It doesn't sound like an education is the priority here. Which is cool, no judgement here, but be honest with yourself.

If skiing everyday makes you happy, go do it.

I guess I am conflicted in that regard. I do enjoy learning but it seems like educational attainment is, for the most part, simply a mechanism for financial attainment. I don't know; the whole "to college or not to college" argument is so fickle. All I know is I want to go to college, enjoy an immersive education, get fucked up a little bit, and ski. In hindsight, everyday is super unrealistic.

What is the best college ski town?

CU. Party school. Good education. Amazing town. Mountains. Hot fit women. Sports.

Can you go to Wake, but move to Whistler since it'll be online anyway?

Ticks the "make parents happy" box, no?

That is a thought but Wake has already gone back to in-person learning. Either way, no one knows what is in store for the next academic year.

Definitely possible, depending on location and major. Every day may mean some days are just 1-2 hours though and probably not worth the drive on shitfuck days. Core classes doesn't help your ski time as a freshman, but in your 5th or 6th year: free time opens up widely to ski.

Honestly, with what a college education costs these days, if you don't really want to do it, then don't. Take a year or two, get a job, and see if your perspective changes or not.

And the answer is in Colorado, but not CU. It doesn't snow much at Crested Butte, but you'll learn how to ski.

When they gonna open up University of Wyoming, Jackson? That would be the best thing ever for college skiers, not so much locals I guess.

I went to UNC for undergrad, now I live in Utah and ski 150+ days a year. Not saying this to brag, but just to show its possible to have your cake and eat it to.

I'm sure plenty of folks disagree with my approach, but putting yourself in a position to have a top tier job out of school (finance, consulting, tech) will set you up for a much better long term quality of life.

You have to figure out whether you care about the town or just access to good skiing.

That was always my thought but six AP classes this semester has me saying "fuck this education thing" pretty hard. Getting a degree is definitely the move in the long-term but I am an impatient idiot. Did you ever ride App while you were at UNC?

You should definitely take a gap year or two.
