Exactly this happened on my first day at Snoq Summit/WA today. rain/snow coming down pretty hard, so super high humidity. I bought a few of the Turtle Fur double layer buffs discussed earlier in the thread. Initially it worked fantastic. zero fogging tucked under the goggles, I was just leaving it fully deployed while on lift and skiing, no issues. then after a run or two it got really wet, and suctioned onto my face, felt like I was suffocating. Crowds were pretty much non existent so I'd pull it down to ski, then redeploy it when I neared the lift chicane. Those few seconds skiing approaching the lifts and working through the lines with it deployed forced me to use one hand to hold it away from my mouth to get an air pocket. I think the lifties thought I was having some sort of panic attack haha. oh well, still skiing, great fun was had.

I just saw today that Outdoor Research has a full balaclava to go along with their facemask line.

I tried to wear a fancy Klim balaclava that I got for riding my motorcycle. I almost had a claustrophobic panic attack just standing in the lift line before my first ride up the lift. Had to rip it off and throw on a buff before I got caught by the lift-mask-nazi guy. It was pretty stressful.

I've had good luck with the Blackstrap balaclava mask. i can wear it over my nose. I pull it down on the lift (I would of course keep it up if I was riding with someone) and while skiing, unless I forget to pull it down. Dry days only so far, and I'm only good for a few hours, although that will likely change once the lines get long.

Wore a Primal Wear mask for a week in JHMR. No issues with foggy goggles. Good moisture wicking properties. Comes with their nanotech filters for the COVID.

I would add about the BS that the point of it is that it's easy to pull up and down. If someone plans to keep the mask on all day I'd just use a synthetic ear loop mask. If someone is going to review a mask it helps to know where they are skiing and whether they are keeping it up/on or going up and down with it. I used a 2 layer buff in the balaclava/mask configuration, which gives 4 layers. Almost as easy up and down as the BS, performance about the same. No fogging--clear, cold windy morning (cold by CA standards). I was using Kinco's--not the most dextrous gloves--and still had no trouble pulling it up.
It always amuses me that so many people have no information about where they ski in their profile or posts.

So skied OR ubertube last night with heavy wet falling snow. Skied about 3 hours. No real issues and continue to like it for resort use
Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

I'm not sure who gave the heads up on the OR tube, but whoever it was, thank you for saving my season. I used the OR lightweight ubertube this weekend and had absolutely zero issues with fogging. I put the tube under my goggles at the nose and cheeks and was totally fine.
My wife used a warmer hood with the front pulled down and wore the OR mask on her face and also had no fogging. Previous trips this year with traditional hoods or masks were a nightmare of foggy goggles.
I have no idea what these magical masks are made of, but good job OR!

I’ve only used a basic buff so far, but pretty much hate it for breathing/talking. Going to give Seirus a shot. Always had good results with the neoflece comboscarf in the past.

Skiing and Covid-19 masks
I’m doubling up my single layer buff. Boss at the hill said that it’s fine. When skiing, it’s working great in terms of fog and comfort. I’m not sure if it’s actually adequate for my brief stints indoors to the bathroom and grabbing a snack. For indoor meetings, I’m wearing one of my denser masks that I wear around town. Like others, I don’t want to be a super spreader. Whatever I get, it should be x5 for the family. Thoughts?

Cold and very windy today and I was dressed for yesterday. It was very nice to have a mask.

Anybody wearing the OR masks (not the Ubertube) with a buff on top as their system?
What are folks doing about their kiddos?

Skiing and Covid-19 masks
we are wearing the two layer Buff tube - not putting in the extra filter
OR mask plus Buff seems like a lot but there’s nothing wrong with going extraI didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

I am finding the BS Dana to be the best option for skiing. I am glad I have 4 because BS discontinued it.

+1 on the OR Ubertube. I’ve been looking like the fat kid carrying multiple pairs of goggles in my pockets. Got the UT delivered Christmas eve, first used it today. Today was the first day all the extra goggles stayed in my pockets and I may not carry them again.
I’d been skiing with a cloth mask on for the most part, didn’t like fiddling with it wondering if my nose was covered coming into the lift line. The Ubertube is easy to pull up or down, the earloops along the top of the tube work much better than the normal earloops from the sides of the mask. They’re a lot more comfortable, it doesn’t torque on your ears.
I rode a lift with a random today and kept it up all lift ride while goggled, no fogging or issues of any kind. The metal band keeps it tight to your nose and doesn’t allow your breath to infiltrate the foam on the lower part of your goggles. Highly recommended.

I have done this. The only thing that I don't like about the OR mask is that my nose and mouth are in direct contact with the filter. This is not the best option. On colder days I wear a filtered mask with a very light buff. I have no real problems keeping it like that for 3 hrs. Eventually, like every other option, it gets clammy.

I have a couple of these that I did not buy for skiing.... but tried it after reading this post. Worked well and I didn’t even dig into the pile of balaclavas and tubes I’d stockpiled for skiing. I might buy another to rotate, and work on my Bane voice....
Sizing is weird. I always thought I had a medium sized face. But I think my big nose throws it off.focus.

Plus 1 for the OR tube. No fogging. I left it on for 4 hours of humid, 30 degree skiing and while it wetted out, had no issues with breathability or fogging. I hate skiing with masks, and this is the best one I have found.
Kids are using a mixture of full head/face cover and doubled up buffs. They take the buff down when they ski and put them up during line and chair ride.
