Last time it was cut was over $5million in damage. Wouldn’t they have extreme camera infrared motion tracking voice recording etc. to prevent a recurrence?

How would you even do that? Oxy/acetylene torch and a willingness to be sliced in half by a 3" thick steel cable? I can't imagine what a miles long cable under tension looks like when cut.

How would that equipment “prevent” an occurrence? The motion sensors went off. They were alerted. They likely have more evidence than they did last time. Are they to post armed security on top of each tower 24/7?

They have the guy on video for sure, but it was one of the smokiest days (nights) in years, and he was most likely covered from head to toe.

Bigger question: same guy, accomplice, or copy cat?

    4am
    Motion where it shouldn’t be.
Motion and video detectors far from the towers.
    Ultra bright floodlights.

Sharks with laser beams if necessary

Five to ten million in damages allows a bit of budget for prevention for intentional sabotage

Although the fire and smoke does provide nice cover

I always laughed at the idea of video cameras being used to prevent crimes.... at best they can lead to the identification of a perpetrator for later apprehension. But for the most part all they do is document the fact that a fucking crime happened.
