I'd be in zero rush to give him a long term deal. 5th year + franchise tag for now.
If you have to pay more later, for elite play, who cares? I'd take that bet every day.
You have to avoid a scenario where you give him $100M+ guaranteed and he's at best, average, and at worse, what you saw on Xmas.

    Chins up Brownies.
They can still make the playoffs if they run the table and couple other things happen.

Not impossible to beat the Squealers and Bungles.

It’s not impossible that the Ravens lose out.

    It’s the hope.

Could be, but should be Ben's last game.

The black birds are coming apart without a QB, the bungles are playing up and looked good. Raperberger is painful to watch.

Agree with all you said and damn, if the Bengals don’t look good. The think that keeps me believing is the Bengals for whatever reason just do not match up well against the Browns. Baker, Chubb and DPJ have their number and the D certainly does.

You can always let it ride and either work it out next year or franchise him. I certainly wouldn’t go tossing a 30 mil a year for 5+ years contract around. But Browns are going to Browns.

I think it’s proof positive that they aren’t Brownsing in the front office anymore. Otherwise Baker would be on IR counting his ducats from his new deal.

"Baker Mayfield probably cost the Cleveland Browns a win last week by having his worst game of the season, and fans were understandably unhappy with the performance. As often happens, some of those fans went too far in expressing their displeasure.

Mayfield’s wife, Emily, took to Instagram on Tuesday to blast fans for some of the things they have said to her and Baker on social media. She claimed there have even been death threats."

This is just an absolutely uninspiring performance so far.

My kid asked Santa for, and got, a Baker jersey for Christmas.

I hope for both of them he can turn it around next year.

Also, the Big Ben knob-slobbing is off the charts.

And TMZspn is calling AB’s bizarre quit job a very diplomatic “departure”. LOL

Also, Steve Levy can eat a dick. Pulling out every tired Browns trope from the last 20 years is some hard hitting color analysis.

i rarely see the browns but he doesn't look good. ben looks much better and he's on his way out. seems a shame browns cant get a good qb. i knew manziel was a bad idea living in texas and seeing him but thought baker was better that arizona's murray watching both at ou and i am saying this with the texans dumpster fire as my local nfl franchise.

I’m watching but not listening. This is a shit show. I’m starting to worry this season has scarred Baker.

I’m a Baker guy but starting to worry he might be damaged goods.

Of course, they all seem to have gotten worse.

So very thankful to have just wrapped a great week of skiing which helps to make me care even less about this one.

Fuck the Squealers, but man, get your shit together Brownies.
