I need shipping but I already have enough pairs. Someone else should give them a shot

Don't anyone hold off for my sake.
I'd really only ski these on groomer days, and that's not many days a year. (If I had my way, no plain groomer days, but alas!)
And I've got a 189cm FX95HP and Monster 98's in 184 already for that slot.

Add to this; I've already spent enough on toys at the moment. So I should be a good boy, look away from the window and walk on.

    Sure is hard tho.

I spent years looking for a decent pair of 184s. This is a good deal.

    Contrast/compare the three lengths?
I love my 184s (same generation as yours) and contemplated picking up the 174.

Got my ass handed to my by first generation 194s.
I'm looking at you skibird ...

We need to change the title of this thread!

I originally purchased a pair 174s in 2018 for my then 14 year old son. They came up on eBay for an unreal price so I thought why not. He kept raving about them and our boots were only 8mm apart so it tried them one day and fell in love. I picked up a second pair from 1000oaks but my son still skis the first pair. He’s been working out a lot and gained about 40lbs this year so they might be too short.

I have over 75 days on 174s, five days on the 194s and just two days on the 184s.

The 174s are short for me in this kind of ski but still have a 24 meter radius and a strong build. I never “overski” them. They are stable at high speed and very predictable. Obviously the “suspension” is limited by the length but for all mountain versatility they are tits. If the snow is soft and up to about a foot I grab them. They ski in the powder rather than on top which I like. I even ski them in low angle trees at Powder Mt. narrow chutes, tight trees, etc are easy with this length.

The 194s are great at places like Snowbird. They are so smooth and ballsey. From chicken heads, dust on crust, chop, chalk, etc they just jam. Keep your eye forward and step on the gas. So fun.

I think my 184s need some break in and I need more time on them but so far they are not much easier than the 194s but lack some of the big board experience. I put on 10 lbs this year so they might be my go to.

All lengths have a great flex pattern that works for completing nice round turns which suit me.

If it turns out that you don't like the 184s, I can stop by and pick them up. After about 7-8 years on them I switched to MX89. They are nice, carve really well and are very fast, they are just not as fun and stable as MX98. Even on zoomers like Stein's, Regulator, Jordanelle, Challenger and Apex, I prefer the 98s.

The new MX is a noodle. I bought the 189 Mx 98 and it was unskiable
Could you please give a few more details on this?

I think the two sizes have the same construction.

No idea about the new version. I suspect it's a nice ski, just maybe not as powerful as the ski in discussion.

@schindlerpiste, you should buy that pair in Bozeman for $350, pull the binders and sell em for $100. All time great skis for less than the cost of a PC day ticket.

    I’d take just the skis

    Sorry

    Oh, no worries.
    It was an enlightening experience.

You penned on the box: "Good Luck!!!"
Which I thought was funny and accurate.

Anybody been on theirs this year? I had the short ones out last week but I took the 184s out today. For the wind buff, crud and roughed up groomers they were perfect.

They are so fast everywhere, even on cat tracks, they just accelerate and pass everyone. The way they go from carve to drift to carve is so fun.

Yes, opening day of lift served, expected mostly piste, scored boot deep pow all day. Such a rewarding suspension on these skis pushing you over the fall line. Click image for larger version.

Skied my red tipped 184 MX98s in rain shoaled slop with 3-6in of heavy fresh on top that was falling while we were skiing. That just did every thing I asked. Don’t know the tune, didn’t matter. God knows the last time they were waxed, didn’t matter. They just made great turns no matter what I was skiing through. The last few runs before Kissing Bridge (a very small hill in WNY) closed had some actual fresh turns and the MX98s just floated on top like you would expect from a ski 10-20mm wider. I’m still more of a fan of the 194, but since it’s WAY over kill for Western New York, the 184 will do just fine.Click image for larger version.
