I think we have bats!
If so, its the first I have seen them in the 6 years we've been living in metrowest Boston (Hopkinton).
Something small, dodging and darting way quicker than our swallows and other song birds, lapping the yard at about 30-40' eating what I can only hope are mosquitos. GO Bats!
If I'm right, what do I do to encourage them to stay? Where did they come from??
"Bat Box" plans and advice are easily googlabl3, but what would maggots do?
Hooray for bats!!

Not bats. Try Swallow.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Looks more like a nocturnal bird. Nighthawks maybe? Very cool birds, they nest on the ground. Not quite as good as bats for mosquitoes. Their call is sort of like a trill or squeak, repeated every 2 or 3 seconds.

Rustic cabin in WI that has been in my family for a long time had a bad mosquito problem. My cousin & I put up a bat box. Took about a year for the bats to move in, but once they did, zero mosquitoes. I used hate going there, but now it is really pleasant. Bats are awesome.

Hard to tell from the pictures, but based on the wing and body a chimney swift is the likely bird. Bats and night hawks come out at dusk and are gone at dawn.

One bat can eat 1200 mosquitos an hour.

Seen a few around my place at dusk several times, very happy about that. Zero [0] mosquitoes this summer.
