Maybe Vail should have submitted their plan weeks ahead of opening instead of days ahead.... they've had half a year to work on it.

I'm #969 in line for the Live Chat. Phone number just says use live chat and hangs up. What a mess.

I wasn't that worried about this whole reservation thing in Crested Butte, but if Vail can't open the Summit resorts because the cases are so bad there right now, but can open CB, it'll be a madhouse.

“We believe that there is more COVID-19 circulating in Colorado right now than there has been since the beginning of the pandemic,” said Dr. Rachel Herlihy, with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Herlihy said modeling estimates than one out of every 100 people in Colorado are contagious with coronavirus right now.

63,000 or so ahead of me when I got assigned.
My prediction: increased demand with decreased uphill capacity=20/21 season being a cluster.
If history has taught me anything it’s that snow brings out the crowds. A low snow season might not be so bad...

This was pretty smooth for me - jumped on at 6:45 pacific, was like 4000th in line. Clicked over at 7:15 into the res page, got the days I wanted, no fuss and no glitches.

So, what days are you guys reserving? Going for weeks, or weekends? And what mechanism is in place to prevent ghost reservations, or skiers just gobbling up days right now and not using them?

Got through in 42 minutes and booked our week in Whistler for March. Now we just need to get over the border.

That was easy. Did it while walking my dog. Consecutive Wednesdays beginning 12/16. Christmas Day

Pleasantly surprised. Went smooth when it was my turn, and I was able to book my 7 days.
As for strategy, I'm spending my 7 on time where I know family will be in town on high-volume times (Christmas, spring break).
Regarding "mechanisims," they've said they encourage you to cancel dates you can't use, and they'll suspend passes for "abuse," whatever that means. I expect if you blow off a reserved day or two it isn't a big deal, but with only the ability to reserve 7 days well in advance, there isn't much space for abuse.
Much more space for the rolling week-of days to be abused, and people snapping up everything they can. I expect that could get you banned if you're not utilizing the days.

Whatever. I think that except for holidays, it's all hype. I expect to make a reservation the night before on most of my Epic days.

I logged in 5 min before the 7am MST start and was 62K in line. Was able to book a week at Vail in mid-February no issue.
