Carhart jacket or the plaid work shirt, you can tell how cold it is by how many plaid workshirts a guy is wearing

Meh, I don't know about that. I was there, don't remember much of course but I don't recall any super-traumatic events. Did leave there in '93 for 23 yrs but that was more about the scenery and the skiing than any politics related shit show. Certainly BC politics are every bit as fucked up.

I enjoyed my time in Edmonton in that era. No lack of work in the conference theatres of downtown to keep me feeding in university. There was som angst against the healthcare and education unions about that time, then a year before I left Ol' Ralph was elected and laid waste to the budget and public service. Worked in the short-term provincial financials, I'll let others more intimately involved relate how that worked out 10-20yrs later.

Ok we got to get this straight:
Flannel shirts - American - Hamilton carhart around 1890
Denim - Levi Strauss circa 1860- American
There is only one Canadian Dinner Jacket/Tuxedo etc
Charles Stanfield Nova Scotia 1890’s
I have a Telkwa dinner jacket that survived 12 wildland fire seasons and another 10-15 years of fishing and hunting.
Wore it on my fist date with the Mrs.

Every province has different fee schedules and the MD in Alberta do bill the HC system mo money than any other province in Canada but Tyler Shandro the health minister either on own initiative or prodded by Jason Kenny seems bent on breaking/ fucking them over which has resulted in MD's quitting after hrs emerg rotation en mass and some plotting to leave Alberta
Shandro it was publicised in the media was yelling from the curb in front of an MD's house at him over some policy issue so the guy is a fucking loose cannon
pissing off/Fucking over the highly trained medicalprofessional with the grade 24 edumacation so he/she quits and moves to another province (hopefully to BC) is not a really good idea IMOLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

I see you two share some similar ideas:
"On another occasion, after the death of South African President Nelson Mandela, Cohen says that Trump told him that apartheid-era South Africa had been "beautiful" and that Mandela had "fucked the whole country up."

Some smack talking about Alberta health care here. Please tell me more.
Wife and I are Physician Assistants in the states and there aren’t a lot of places where we can work outside of the US. Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario and Alberta will let us practice, but not the rest of the great white north. My wife is super sub specialized, but I can do orthopedics, emergency medicine or primary care. The center in Toronto would love to have her, but it is Toronto. F Toronto. We need sun and mountains. Calgary fits the bill, but you kooks speak poorly of Alberta’s health care system.
So, thanks in advance for perspective on health care in Calgary.

what's orange and looks good on hippies?
fire
rails are for trains
If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for problems caused by the government I'd be a rich fat film maker in a baseball hat.

I grew up in Calgary. Haven't been back in 15 yrs so I can't comment on current state of health care. But it can't possibly rival how bad the US system is.
Can confirm the outdoor opportunities near Calgary are excellent, both summer and winter. Terrain that rivals the best parts of the CO or MT Rockies within a few hours drive but without the traffic clusterfuck in CO. And while Albertans some times get compared to Texans they're no where near as obnoxious.
