I bought a brand new mammut barryvox in 2019 that I absolutely loved... flag feature, huge range, light weight, infinite battery life... right up to the moment in 2020 that one of the copper battery tabs broke clean off and mammut said they'd fix it for $60 and if I sent it in in November I might get it back by April.
How is this not covered under warranty for free???

He didn’t say anything about battery leakage.
Speaking of ‘off season’, I’ve skied pow in June and pow in October. So yeah there’s a 3 month period where I tend to take batteries out, but for 9 months of the year there are batteries in there. So if he left batteries in for an extra 3 months that shouldn’t affect warranty.Know of a pair of Fischer Ranger 107Ti 189s (new or used) for sale? PM me.

So from this thread it seems like the go to is the Barryvox S? I'm just getting into BC/Touring/being safe so feel free to advise!

"Need" is a strong word but IMO there are a few compelling benefits to the S for non-pros
-larger screen
-dynamic screen icons providing visual feedback on stages of the search
-some background software functions to help precision with sloppy search technique
-allows use of lithium or alkaline batteries
Good article here: http://www.mammutavalanchesafety.com...vox-s-and.html
Both models are great and you can't go wrong either way.

You can get a Barryvox shipped to your door for ~$240 from varuste.net. If I hadn't found a cheap like new S on marketplace I would've gone that route. Varuste is legit - ordered a bunch of Petzl stuff from them at better than pro deal prices in Feb and had it in a wk.

Ah, didn't see the non-S variety up for availability so I didn't know about it!

Any more codes for the Barryvox? Looking to replace my Pieps. My beacon passed the check but trust level is low.
