Recently bought a new Barryvox to replace a Tracker2 that I know I used for too long. Overall, I'm super impressed with it - easy to use, great range, way more features. Just want to know who thought criss-crossing the straps on the harness was a good design? I know I'm not the only one out there who doesn't like their love handles pinched and chaffed for hours at a time. If there is some benefit I'm not seeing, it must be outweighed by the fact that it leads users like me to ditch the harness and carry it in a pocket.

Everybody's gotta have parkas. I'm talking custom parkas. Two words: "client development." They see all of you out there cutting the powder in your matching Schweikart & Cokely parkas, you'll make an impression. You will thank me later.

Doesn’t everyone carry in a thigh pocket now? I switched to pocket carry years ago and can’t consider a harness anymore.

Yeah, the Barryvox transceivers are great. Love mine. First strike with the probe every time without much practice.

Never looked back, but most of my touring partners are still stuck in their manufacturer recommended ways. The way I see it, being a few inches further from my torso is more than made up for by the comfort, convenience, and separation from potential interference in jacket pockets / pack.

For what its worth, went from a Pieps to the new Barryvox this season and appreciated the simple effectiveness of it.

What is an almost new Pieps Pro worth in GS these days?

While I still have great confidence in the Pieps guts, I’m sort of done on the switch shenanigans. Just received the new harness bandaids a week or so ago and they are uninspiring.
I’ve got two & I’m heavily tempted to switch to Barryvox for next year.

    Which new beacon in 2020?

Unfortunately just not ready to pull trigger as I’ve switched seasons already...otherwise I’d be begging for a code
Nice of you to offer (as you have most of this year)!

Thanks, Mikey! Genuinely embarrassed to say I was still rocking a Tracker DTS.

It’s kinda a pieps micro repackaged.

Seems to be a Pieps Micro with an entirely new switch.

All the BD beacons have been exactly identical to the equivalent Pieps models except for graphics.
I strongly suspect that this new BD model will have a Pieps identical twin.
