Another "What ski am I?" thread....

Current favorite ski that I love, but wish I had something a little shorter/less burly for low tide days/bump days with the same feel:

    188 Quixotes in a 4 flex.

I'll state the obvious, Praxis custom.

Yeah, skinny Quixotes, heavy core+veneer, flex 3 or 3+ in a 187, or stick with flex 4 and drop down to a 181. Although your mustache may prevent you from skiing something that short.

    You are probably correct.

A 182 Quixote -10mm in waist in a #3 might be just about perfect for everyday.

I own that exact ski with the heavy core/carbon/veneer construction. It's a winner. I would omit the carbon for a ski that was going to be used purely for lift served.

Possible that end up mounting them with pins if the lifts don't turn.

Am I missing something but is "heavy core" + carbon counter intuitive? Adding weight and then using carbon?

Mine are mounted with tech bindings and have been my only pair of touring skis for three seasons now.

I originally ordered them as an inbounds quiver of one for Colorado resort skiing, which is how I arrived at the heavy+carbon construction, as I like skis with some heft to them, but also wanted some energy out of the turn in soft snow, which can be lacking in traditionally "damp" skis.

Damn. The deal goes until 8/20. Really don't need to order skis right now......or do I?

Carbon adds “pop” especially right after the apex of a turn. I like the feel, some folks don’t.

I think if I pull the trigger it will be a 182 Quixote -10mm of waist, Enduro core (what my skis have now), Flex 3 + carbon or Flex 4 (what I have now).

That sounds real good. The 9D8 suggestion is solid too. My friend in JH loves them as everyday skis.

Try the heavy core, you'll like it. I don't think I've ever heard someone say that an enduro core Praxis ski is too heavy, but you can find plenty of people who don't find them damp/powerful enough.
