2021 Bikes That Make Your Shorts Tighter.
I’m hoping in the next few seasons I can get up to Gifford Pinchot and get some deep megavert days ... for which a Spur-class bike would be perfect.
Down here in the south / upper Willamette we have some longass deep rides where that class of bike is great, like the O Leary Ridge to King Castle epic, or the Old Cascades Crest Pyramids loop, or full Bunchgrass to Oakridge, etc.
That being said, my 28 lbs 2015 Bronson v1 *practically* has the weight and geo (saddle slammed forward and angleset installed of course, with flat bars too) of new downcountry bikes, just with longer travel
And the dual position fork I run (130/160) allows it to climb with an XC/trail geometry and descend with an (outdated) enduro geometry. So ... pre-boost frames do have some weight advantages ..._______________________________________________

*takes note of rides mentioned*
FWIW my spur is 28lbs. The way it rides though I've no doubt it is faster on the ups than a bronson. It blows my mojo3 out of the water.

Evdog and anyone else, if you are ever planning an Oregon trip send me a PM and I’m happy to throw some beta your way.
I don’t know anything firsthand about Southern WA (Gifford Pinchot) though, so you gotta ask other mags about that._______________________________________________

Haha, in OR as we speak. Camped above Florence right now. Rode a couple days in Grants pass staying with a friend but had to jet up to Portland. Headed north from there based on the forecast. Got in a couple rad days riding in Port angeles then drove down the coast in rain. Forecast looks great for numerous stops heading south. I plan to be back in OR and WA this summer though and will be looking for cool and big backcountry rides.

Awesome Ev!
Camped at/near Horse Creek Camp?
I don’t know how those trails drain after a rain, but the upper part of Cummins Ridge can handle moisture really well and is a sick, albeit super super short, trail. I’ve ridden it on a hardtail with 150mm fork - but it’s got a lot of steep rolls so slacker bikes will do better there. Siltcoos Lake trail is very close to Florence but I have no idea how it handles moisture and have never ridden it.
Further inland, Alsea may be riding okay right now ... and Whypass (Carpenter Bypass) is built to handle winter rains.
Down south by Grants Pass, Taylor Creek trail is a real treat! The Jedi section west of Windy Pass is suuuuuuuper easy (did it with a 1 year old the handlebars) but a delightful stroll through a Ponderosa and sugar pine ridgeline.
Enjoy!_______________________________________________

This video of Yoann and Remy showing off their process for tackling new slab and jump features on their new bikes (GG and Propain) seems like it was tailor-made for the 160-170mm bike geeks on this thread! I always had an idea Remy was a sick rider, but watching him throw his Propain sideways with such quickness and precision blew my mind ... (long video but all the fun happens in the middle around 12-14 mins in)

Yup, horse creek. Fun trails! Heading down to Coos Bay but may need to jump back to Portland tomorrow, so I might be able to fit one of those other suggestions in. Any beta on Lower Rogue River Trail?

2021 Bikes That Make Your Shorts Tighter.
About to start the long hunt for a frame for Mrs Hubbs.
Needs:
-27.5 wheel size. (Size small, so if they only do 27.5 in small, that’s cool)
-Carbon.
-Built for 140 fork.
-130 rear.
-Frame set only?
What frame am I?
PM me for photos. Or I’ll PM you photos if your suggestion is helpful.

A 2021 Orbea Occam M10 showed up at the bike shop today. It made me wet. The standard employee deal here is cost plus 10% up to $100, so cost plus $100. Assuming the boss doesn't reneg on that deal and the numbers I found in the system are correct, I'm going to make it mine tomorrow.

YetiBro is SB is 140/160
Rocky's only 27.5 offering are:
Thunderbolt Alloy 140/150
Instinct 140/150
Altitude 160/170
Reaper 27.5 (Youth Alloy)
I figured the only way for my "Mystical 2021 Yet To Be Released New Rocky" to appear, is to over extend my self and purchase a bike for the Mrs.Last edited by Dee Hubbs; 03-02-2021 at 09:04 AM.
