The whole TV-dinner take might be part of the jail tray’s allure.

^console. I have 5 27” screens, who wants to touch me?
Most dispatchers develop the rare ability to speak with a mouthful of food by shoving everything into the cheek. We call it pocketing, and it only sounds slightly less ridiculous than the echo in the bathroom that lets everyone in scanner land know you’re taking care of bidniss.
“Why don’t some people go menace each other?” may or may not have just been uttered by one of my co-workers. Slow day (queue the fuckening in 3-2-1…)

I had a pleasant conversation with dispatch today. If she was eating, she covered it like a true pro.

We lost power at a radio repeater site, so dispatching out of Gilpin today. A good guest never arrives empty handed. Imagine my disappointment when no one was interested, leaving me the entire bag!
Need some milk…

Free Shift Meal
Power’s back in time for lunch. One of the more school lunch looking trays. The pudding is coconut, and I’m just not sure how I feel about it.

Free Shift Meal
Nine out of ten lunch-ladies surveyed said it’s a winning combo.
Held my belly over longer than the donettes anyway.

My mom was a lunch lady for a brief stint after the divorce. She worked at the Jr. High School my brothers attended when I was in elementary. I was always super-jealous.
Mom was a great cook, and was always clipping recipes and trying new things. If I’m a foodie, it’s because of her. I found her cook/scrap book in the garage during the first summer of covid; the gift that keeps giving. I’m pretty sure mom is pleased with all the people her recipes continue to touch. Anyway, no shame in the cafeteria, food just takes on a different personality in a jail tray.
