You mean like 1st time in your *life* trying them?

    Aren't you a child of the 80's?

    So confused...

60’s brah, way before anyone thought about turning crackers and cookies into breakfast cereal (insert get off my lawn rant here). Space Bars, now that’s a well rounded breakfast!
ETA: seems my faulty memory combined Pillsbury Space Sticks with General Mills Breakfast Bars into Space Bars. No less chalky and gross though!

Anyone remember the Cream of Wheat commercials with the animated bowl following the kid on adventures and what-not? Pure gold Jerry!

Yep, this is how you sell cereal!

I was born in '71 and vaguely remember GG's being one of the great forbidden cereals of my youth...

And they are older than I thought:

I also remember when Honey Smacks were called Sugar Smacks, Corn Pops were Sugar Pops and Golden Crisps were Super Sugar Crisps, presumably before marketing figured out they maybe shouldn’t lead with sugar on the list of ingredients.

Sugar Bear; smooth AF that bear. Speaking of going down the rabbit hole; old cereal commercials almost as campy as the old smoking adds.

    "With milk or cream."

Ahhh... the good ol' days when you'd put *cream* on your sugary cereal. Kids these days are so soft.

I’m horrified about No bowl for milk and cereal.

    Wtf man. That’s uncivilized

You can’t eat cereal from a plate or tray.

Is it a cereal, a snack or candy? The answer is YES!!! Also, we were free to wreck ourselves on public streets at will with all kinds of gadgets including skateboards.

Snack/schmack, that was a well balanced breakfast if you count the jelly as fruit.

I'm dying over here laughing. This thread is single handedly winning the internet.
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!

Mom wouldn't let me eat fruity pebbles. Suffice it to say cereal was my main diet getting through my 20's.

Kids these days put chocolate milk in their cereal! Well, the husky ones.

^oatmeal and farina here, although mom would occasionally treat us to snack-packs of the sugary stuff.

I also remember being insanely jealous of kids whose mom’s put those little fritos packs in their bag lunches. I was a fat kid, so probably a good call by my mom to pack fruit, but fritos have always been a guilty pleasure.
