I never watched cooking shows before but they are very soothing for me these days.
My favorites are Lydia and America's Test Kitchen/Cook Country. Because the recipes are simple and easy.
Although if I use as much salt as they do on those shows I'm gonna need another BP pill.

Back before we ditched the TeeVee, when the kids were just babies, that's all we ever watched. I got tired of the formulaic violence and bullshit so carefully crafted to make us better consumers, so yeah, watched cooking shows instead.

Couldn't stand Rachel Raes voice, Bobby Flay seemed like a jerk, loved Alton Brown, wouldn't leave my kids with Emeril and the Cardiac Contessa was trying to kill her husband with cholesterol.

This Aussie cat is a bit irreverent, but I find him to be highly entertaining.
His earliest videos from the beginning of the COVID quarantine are the best.
I really love how he refers to me (okay, all his viewer's, but when I watch his vidz his easy going manner makes me feel like he is speaking directly to me and that we're old mates) as a "champion", plus I fiand all of his other Oz slang cool.

Another off-kilter show is Edible History.
I find the origins of some well-known dishes to be incredibly interesting.
The host is perhaps best known for her other show My Drunk Kitchen, which can be hit/miss depending on your tolerance for watching somebody stumble and slur their way through a recipe.
This show, however, is teeming with cool, albeit esoteric, historical musings...

I like this one.

I can't take watching her but have made a few of her recipes, and yeah, she makes delicious food.

I'm a fan of the competition shows like Top Chef and the British baking show. Have also enjoyed some of the Mind of a Chef stuff.

I am a Food Network fanboy and love watching Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped, but my all time favorite is anything with Anthony Bourdain... Not as much cooking but just a great show based around regional food...

I've been learning how to cook the last 2 months (finally, I know, WTF) through Masterclass. There is a basic beginner class I'm going through, 40-50 episodes with Thomas Keller and it's mostly easy. Now I've dabbling in Gabriela Cámara's shows to learn Mexican. There are a bunch of more chefs to choose from in there too.

If you want soothing find Rick Bayliss's shows. All mexican food and some great recipes, but his voice is almost hypnotic to me. Watch it and you can skip the BP pills for the day.
