After putting DH tires on my bike before last weekends race I upped the rig to 36 pounds.

Didn't feel so bad when a dude I know sponsored by Cannondale said his brand new Jekyl race bike is 35 pounds.

Lol....new to me 2019 SB150 with GX drivetrain and boat anchor m1900 wheelset + cush core......over 37 pounds. WTF!!! New wheels + high end XTR drivetrain by next spring should hopefully get me down to close to 35 again.

It's a lost cause at this point. I just need to train harder. Need a legit steed with hefty tires to race enduro these days.

Have had it about a month and finally put it on a scale



28lb 14 oz with the pedals, cages, garmin, and a DHF up front. Heavier than I'd like but lighter than I thought.

I've been going back and forth on whether I want to keep this and possibly upgrade parts to make it lighter, or sell it for something else. I wanted something that was going to be light and fast but more capable on steeper and rougher trails. It's definitely a fun and capable bike on the way down, but after riding it up my local climbs I've realized I'll never line up at a race with it as is. My old hardtail is pretty well done for so I need a new xc bike next year anyway, assuming we have races. Trying to turn this into that bike or buying another new one is going to cost a lot more than selling it and buying a scalpel.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to climb on a bike that light anymore. I had a Santa Cruz Blur LTC at one point that was 30.5 pounds. By far my lightest MTB ever.

In ‘91 I had a front suspension specialized...one of the ti lugged carbon models that was fully dialed at 20 pounds. Still my favorite bike of all time. Some rat bastard stole it

Yeah it's not that heavy, but it is for an XC bike. With the hei hei I'm 1-2 gears easier and working harder up the same stuff vs the hardtail. I want to say the XX1 version is low 26lbs and I would have considered buying that if Kona had had any. Even had a bunch of xtr parts in a shopping cart until I realized I can't get a shifter or derailleur until sometime in october.

I'll probably figure out some lighter cranks because these descendants with the steel chainring are absurdly heavy. Think I can drop almost a full lb right there and then some carbon handlebars will help a bit too. Looks like going to a really fancy and expensive cassette is only about a 100g difference though. Then with lighter tires suddenly it's like 27 or less.


Update - with carbon bars and an aluminum sram chainring instead of the metal one it's down to 28lb 2oz (which works out to a saving of 340g). So on xc tires i'll be under 28 at least.

update to my bike i guess- With carbon cranks, carbon wheels, the transfer sl post, x01 cassette, an assortment of ti bolts etc, and really really flimsy tires it squeaks under 25lbs



I have mezcals and a rear insert right now and it's almost a pound heavier. 25lbs 12oz or something.

I could shave a little more here and there but think I can live with that for a 120mm bike. Instead I just ordered a procaliber so i can have an actually light xc bike.

my '21 instinct weighs about 31 pounds. That's even with the cane creek inline shock, DD rear tire, and new charger 3 lyrik. Although I usually have a tool strap/bottle on it which makes it about 32 pounds.

Although I've been riding the new Element demo at my shop which is about 27, and man does it feel good to shoot uphill on that thing.

As soon as I did that, all my numb dick issues went away, even with a bike fit beforehand. Flat saddles really make no sense to me now, once you're climbing it completely changes and you're just shoving the nose into yourself. I also do big rides almost every day of the week so it's been a game changer for me.

so you ^^ are running your seat nose down it looks like ? You can get a lot of seats with a depression in the seat to accommodate the dick

I run a WTB seat nose up, I put a level on the seat and make it so there is 1" between the back of the seat and the level with the level resting on the nose

every asshole is different as they say so whatever works ... works

Santa Cruz sez my Bullit moped is < 50lbs and I'm not going to argue that figure

Was just poking fun. Figured you had it set for winching up super steep stuff. Had never thought about adjusting saddle for terrain till getting here. Eliminating the numb nether regions sounds great.
