Plarn
Plarn is quite simply; plastic yarn. Usually made by cutting strips of plastic shopping bags plarn has many uses and because of the durability of plastic it can make a great, sturdy (and wipe-clean!) alternative to traditional crochet.
I have hundreds of plastic bags sitting in the bottom of my pantry closet since COVID began. Stores wouldn't accept my reusable shopping bags. WTF is a guy supposed to do with these things besides throw them out, which I feel terrible about doing. Remember a while back seeing people make them into cool stuff - like backpacks, placemats / coasters, rope, etc.
Is anyone well versed in the weaving of plarn? And what stuff did you make with it?.. no mankini pics please

The store I go to usually has a recycling bin for them. They have some value because they make Trex and similar products out of them, so they do get re-used.

Plarn crafting seems like a good "occupy the kids while getting rid of all those plastic bags" kinda project.

Same here. I have a kitchen garbage can that is perfect size to use a typical grocery bag as a liner. When CA banned them I had to start buying bags to use in it once I ran out.
