Congrats to the second city on Lake Erie to get a Hoffbrau Haus. They’re actually really well run for the most part and a good time. You can still get breakfast weisswurst and a pretzel with a lager at their first American outpost, Cincinnati, er, Northern Kentucky (because the most German town in America managed to fuck that one up), but not sure about the others. Anyway, Prost!

and after only a mere six years of "planning", the driveway replacement project has commenced. they had our guys install the french drain first, and then proceeded to rip it right out again with the grinder. all part of the "planning', apparently.

of course, the price went up in the meantime, so we're only gonna get half the job done now and do the rest "soon".
    EFFICIENCY!

Old rock stars are still shaking off the groupies. May not be twenty year olds, but he probably appreciates experience over cute and bubbly.

I mean, Lemmy was practically dead and was getting doubles.

I hope she still has her looks.

I bet Jack is sitting in a bar like the one above regaling anyone within earshot about his high school football glory days.

A single mom with 3 kids, a pack a day habit, and an abusive live in boyfriend? I think I'm taking the under on Diane.

You can track it in the Great Resignation thread. They're figuring it out as I type this.

    Has Puregravity weighed in yet?

I usually like to hold off on a banger of a thread like that until we get some solid analysis from him.

He seems pretty selective on the specific subjects that stoke his fire. I'm wondering if the "impending collapse of society" stuff is a bit too wide ranging a topic for him?

Didn't seem to slow him down in the Covid threads (back when I used to poke my head in there).

I see Fred's currently got the podium though, so maybe I'll check in.

Hah, yeah, I was just thinking about this song that was a staple of FM radio for, like, forever, and one of the greatest pop songs all about inequality and pop star celebrity.

I’ve gotten so many tickets on the Taconic. I feel your pain.

One of my college roommates told a story once about a time in HS when he and a couple friends decided to drive from Yorktown to Albany just because they’d never been there before. So he goes up the Taconic, middle of the night, at like Mach 2. It’s empty so there’s nothing to slow him down. They get to the north end and pull into the toll booth but he can’t figure out how to press the button that gives you the ticket. So he’s sitting there for a few minutes and they’re trying to figure out what to do when a trooper appears behind them, lights on, full speed. So they were that close to the trooper having to decide which direction they went- toward Albany or Boston or maybe they got off onto the surface streets. They would have had a 1 in 3 chance of getting away Scott free. As it was, the trooper had him on radar at some ridiculous speed, high enough that the dude made them follow him back south and see the judge that night. I’d never heard of such a thing before or since. So I asked where the court was and he had to think about for a minute “Some crazy town name… Auschwitz I think?” Ah, Austerlitz, I told him. That must have been like a forty minute drive back from the toll booths. So he goes back and gets his license suspended. His friend takes over driving and they keep on north because they don’t want to give up on their objective. They find their way to 90 and head west but somehow get lost. He’s trying to describe where they got off but isn’t making any sense so I ask if he crossed the Hudson before he got off the highway. So he’s like “What are you talking about? Why would I cross the Hudson?” I tell him Albany is on the west side of the river. Troy and East Greenbush are on the east side. So he gets this confused look on his face and goes “Albany is in Jersey?” I died laughing. The funniest part is that even though this guy would tell you he’s from the Bronx, his family moved to Yorktown when he was a kid. He spent all of HS in northern Westchester county.

Dude, cruise control. Set it at 59-60. Too many places for them to hide, unless it's been raining a lot lor snow in winter. Even then, they gotcha.

Saw Mill is the same, but, really enjoyed watching a county cop getting towed out of the mud he was trying to hide in one time.
