I woke up to 20" on the hood so cleaned it off, took a piss and headed back to the hwy. It was a clean sheet of windblown goodness and I had an almost full tank so I pointed west and went for it. That was too much fun with a few sketchy episodes When I went down the exit ramp there was a trooper blocking the entrance across the street and the look on his face was priceless. The front of my truck was packed a few feet thick with packed snow with just a spot where the wipers kept it clear enough for me to keep going. He followed me into the gas station and started screaming at my stupidity for being out there so I got back in his face and reamed him out for missing me when they cleared the road and leaving me out there to freeze. Plowing through drifts up to the roof at full speed was awesome
Damn, that’s wild! Love how you turned it on the cop, nope, y’all missed me out there!

I was based in Albany...it took me 5 hours to drive there because the Thruway was closed. Not a bit of snow until I was about 25 miles from Buffalo and had to get off the Thruway. Pretty interesting drive after that.
Damn. I hope you didn’t have to make that commute every day. Isn’t that close to four hours on a good day?

A little over 4 hours on a good day. I managed all commercial airports in NY except Westchester, JFK, and LaGuardia. 16 in all. Buffalo was the biggest one. I usually was there for 3 days every other week. One of the reasons I left that job. Hated being a road warrior. Didn't want to die on the Thruway.

Before the winds shift to the northeast to hit Orchard Park, they've decided to fill up the valley. It's calling your name.

They need a sign made for that spot.

It’s gotta be one of those nice New York Historical Marker signs.

Thanks, it look like this meets the criteria --except for the last item.
    ------------

The marker inscription must be proven using primary source documentation.

The marker subject must be historically significant to the larger community or beyond.

Inscriptions must be clear about why the subject (i.e. person, place, thing, event) is historically significant.

Key dates must be included when necessary for framing context; however, the inscription should not be written simply as a list of dates.

Inscriptions should maximize available character limits.

The marker must recognize a historical fact that occurred more than 100 years from the time a final application is submitted. Currently the time frame is 1683-1922.

Winds aren't favoring a big dump in Syracuse. Shouldn't be a problem. Runway snow removal companies all over the world send their products to SYR for testing. The airport loved it because they always had state of the art machines at no cost to them.

    fact.
Do you know Bill? My wife used to work for his company and I met him several times. Even had a picnic for employees up on his land south of Syracuse. He seemed like a decent guy but was one of the cheapest rich guys you'll ever meet.

That eyesore on Shit Lake (aka Greenwood Lake) is still for sale? Btw, it's certainly not Upstate by our analysis.

The town of Greenwood Lake is just barely upstate by the accepted Seven Lakes Dr/BMB/Rt 6 border. The lake itself straddles the NJ line.
