“ umm , I grew up in New York City “

    You don’t say….

And speaking from my own opinion only - sure you may be able to purchase it offsite but the southern border of upstate is for certain what I’ll call the utica line. - can you buy a rack of uticas ? You’re in upstate.

I feel this demarcation would hold up under pressure , say , more so than the maginot line did.

I couldn't stand listening to or watching her. Nails on a chalkboard. Is it a NY thing? Is she on drugs?

When my sister and husband left Manhattan they looked seriously at the Hudson River Valley and in the end decided against it because it is loaded with nothing but people from Manhattan, like her.

I thought proximity to Stewart's was the metric we had agreed on for Upstate.

They said it became abundantly clear that they needed to cast a wider net when they saw the same groups of people that they would see in the City when they did a few weekend recon trips up the valley, which, were also the same groups of people they'd see out in the Hamptons on weekends during the summer. Didn't feel like they had left the City behind at all.

You can’t just go to New Paltz or Saugerties. Too many transplants and college professors. Head a little further afield and you might get different results.

This would put the line just a little further north from where I drew it- someplace in Orange County. Not sure about the east side of the river but I pass at least one Stewart’s on the way to Catamount. There’s an argument to be made for sure.

It's like skiing at Huntah and expecting it not to be overflowing with folks from the city, jersey, the island.

I think the one just south of DCC in Poughkeepsie might be the furthest south in this side.

Ok, on way home from a coupla days in Poughkeepsie. Gotta insist it’s upstate. I will allow there are significant downstate influences, particularly in the people category. However, in favor of upstate are: blue tarps close to town; ramshackle old houses extremely close to windy roads; a hemp farm. Oh, and a shooting this AM at a hotel just outside of town - tho that’s not up or down state unfortunately

Also will submit to the collective that Rossi’s Rosticceria Deli is the absolute shit, possibly best Italian deli in the upstates. Had the porchetta sandwich and I’m still full 30 hours later.

I'll be venturing on an end-to-end I-90 upstate excursion this coming long weekend; Friday night in Albany, Saturday night in Buffalo, Sunday night in Rochester. Will report back with any relevant findings.

I was thinking there’s finally a smart person upstate. Turns out he drove six hours to Utica. So yeah. No.

    https://thepostmillennial.com/man-ex...uyback-program

Using his $200 3D printer, Kem quickly birthed a battery of plastic firearms, and drove six hours from his home to Utica, where the buyback program was holding an event.

"I 3D-printed a bunch of lower receivers and frames for different kinds of firearms," said Kem.

Kem explained that upon arriving in Utica, he was asked how many guns he wished to turn in, to which he replied, “110.”

After spending the rest of the day negotiating with staff, Kem was presented with 42 gift cards, each worth $500, making the total payout $21,000.

"I'm sure handing over $21,000 in gift cards to some punk kid after getting a bunch of plastic junk was a rousing success," Kem told WKTV,
