the headwaters of the Genny may be located in PA, however the photo that GravityLover shared is most definitely in Upstate NY.

The extra curved beater baseball hat is also upstate AF, or a Masshole.

That brings to mind another border discussion for another day.

I've noticed that the average bill of a hat tends to start with the more customary curve on the East Coast, and progress towards a flat bill/nearly flat bill somewhere around Denver.

Mesh back seems to appear around the mid-west and it becomes almost exclusive at that same Denver mark.

    YMMV.

Depends on where you are starting. My first introduction to flat brims in the late 90s were from the hip hop community....

First thing I do when I get a new hat is start training the brim. No fucking flat hats. Not ever.

The flat brim is totally lost on me.
But I guess that tracks based on your theory. Just thought I’d chime in.

You guys got me thinking. Is a hat collection an upstate thing? It’s not right? Everybody wears hats.

This is but a small sampling.

Yes, hat collection is an upstate thing. Maybe it's only me, but I tend to notice more logos for heavy equipment -- Cat, Komatsu, Moe's Backhoe Rentals -- than beer and whiskey brands.

For years my wife kept buying me some kind of hat rack or hanger gizmos. I never used one of them. She’s given up.

Whatever they stock at Walmart or Tractor Supply seem to be popular. It should have a snap back. Fitted hats are for weddings and special occasions, or when you're having Labatts Blue.

As an avid hat collector from Upstate, I have a lot of Upstate hats in my collection.
Monroe Tractor, KJ Trans, Pike Cosnt., Bills AFC Champs. The Hickey Freeman done in a fine Italian wool navy pinstripe is rare.

Really doesn't scream Upstate style. Corduroy? You're missing the snap back mesh hats.

I am stuck with beanies. Standard issue caps are way too small for my mishapen head. And the adjustable ones are a joke. Even the very largest last position isn't even close. One size fits all, my ass. More like our size only fits pinheads. The one exception was this one hat from Chile. It must have been a mistake. It was colorful like you might expect. It was the kind of thing you find on Dead tour sold as Guatemalan. However, it was ginomous and fit like a glove. I've never seen anything like it before or since. Unfortunately it has mostly fallen apart and smells horrid after 30 years.
