How long does it take to cycle the lock at the greatest water height differential? Or, given these aren’t tidal waters, are the height differences roughly the same all the time?
My experience with locks is limited to Shinnecock canal. During times of similar tides, the locks are left wide open and can have fast water! Fun!Because rich has nothing to do with money.

the locks have different size valves depending on their height and all the lock chambers are the same width and length. the highest drop is 40.5 feet and the shortest is 6 feet. so, regardless of the height, all of the locks generally take the same amount of time to operate. it takes one guy about 20 minutes to run through a fill and empty cycle of a lock. then you add in however much time it takes the boneheaded boaters to get their boats in and out of the lock and you got yourself the total timeframe.
the canal has no tidal waters. the tidal hudson river is stopped at the federal lock in troy. just one more thing that great city has going for it.

I don't know, personally I'd dig seeing all the action in the lock over slangin cold cuts.

What about opening a locally sourced produce and cold cut stand next to the lock serving the boating community? It's not like a boat comes through every minute, but in addition to the $17.50/hr you're killing it on produce and cold cuts.

things always look better from afar. hard to see all them meth addicted in the daytime… they tend to scurry from the light.
things have improved only slightly since the fire burned through.
they did just put in a nice new distillery though. they’re hoping that some of the meth heads will take up being drunks instead, hoping that might cut down on some of the fucking random burglaries that go on in that area.

Went to Phoenix last Friday night to see some friends band playing outside near the bridge house. Good mellow party going on in town, streets blocked off, people walking around with drinks. Didn't stay for the fireworks
