A while back this dude I met biking was raving about a German restaurant in/near New Paltz. Can't recall the name of the place, so I found two doing some Googling:
Schatzi's and Mountain Brauhaus. Some other place named Gunk Haus but looks like that's closed cause it got hit by a truck or something.

    Which is the best one?

It's chipseal season here in the ROC. The rock harvest must be good this year cause it's every damn road. I should buy a quarry.

I had lunch at Mountain Bauhaus maybe twenty years ago after a bunch of us mountain biked in Minnewaska. It was pretty awesome. The two things I remember was the ice cold german lager served in these tall pilsner glasses, and the chef/owner coming out from the kitchen to greet us at the bar, and, damn, if he wasn't a spitting image of Ranier Fassbinder, soaked in sweat and wearing a dirty apron, reaching for a cigarette. Sounded like him, too.

Well, that's almost, but not entirely, true. There is this one interloper of a google result from Airbnb:

"Rent from people in Irondequoit Bay, NY from $20/night."

So I'm not certain it's a vacation hot spot despite having the Newport Yacht Club located there. Which was the site of the crash. Would $20/night even cover the airbnb fees?

I used to live on the bay and ski with the club back in the day. Anyone know if that’s still active?

This just gets better. According to my sources on the ground, apparently the woman was in a car accident near Herkimer on the thruway and was taken to St. Elizabeth's in Utica for treatment. She then went to the Utica bus station (quite nice actually) to head back to Buffalo. The ambulance was a block away, and was clearly a cheaper, faster alternative.

No word on why the yacht club crash. Perhaps she ditched the ambulance for a boat?

Newport Yacht Club. Don't let the name fool you. No Newport. No yachts.

Not to the degree of the founding members of the club but I was a dues paying member of Aqua Sno for about a decade.
