I feel like once we nail down the exact parameters of the Upstate we should note it on the map by covering it with a blue tarp.

LOL, I used to live in a place where you could tell winter was coming by seeing the blue tarps and henry's being placed in front of the local hardware store.

Works even under water or in the driving rain which is most certainly when you'll finally be driven to apply

Some of those dumpy zones north of Nyack and south of Rt 6 are totally upstate.

I live a mile off Rt 6 in Mahopac. Bring a mtb, I'll show you some fun stuff.
I worked in Westchester and then midtown for a while out of grad school. My first job was in Somers and I lived right off 312 outside Sears Corners. I was on a bike hiatus at the time, unfortunately. It would have been fun to ride there.

Ice Pond Rd? There are some kickass 2 pitch 5.12's up to 5.14's on the cliffs above the pond and a couple of mtb spots within a 10 minute drive. When did you live there?

I rented a really rough apartment on the property with the big white house overlooking the reservoir from about 2000 to 2002. After that I moved to White Plains.

It literally took me about 45 seconds to connect that movie to upstate. It was written by a dude from Rochester

So back to Rt 6. Sorry ntblanks but we have plenty of cars on blocks here in Putnam County so that metric is a no go. You can hear fiddles playing in Westchester in places like Crofts Corners and Lake Peekskill, Indian Hill where Trump State Park is has a distinct west slope of the Catskills feel to it so yeah, Rt 6 is the line. I don't like it though because I'm 1.5 miles south of the line and that means I'm one o dem downstater suburbanites so I'm filing for an exception since there are two cars in my driveway that don't run.
i think we could add prevalence of asbestos shingles, deer gutting rig in front yard and tarps on roofs (which may have been mentioned elsewhere).

Holy shit, what a hero; $1B of box office to his name.

Be proud Upstate, and kudos Brownski for making that astonishingly quick connection.

That's what this thread is also all about. Collecting dots; and connecting them.

You might have visited my old ski shop in Patterson, it was only 3 miles from you.

There's more snow there than in Aspen right now. And that pic is making is making me thirsty. Strong work.
