Also, if you put it to a vote, the folks in the city would not draw the line at the Bronx, or would do so in jest only. We always knew that "Westchester" is not upstate, we just call it that to annoy the people from Westchester. But anything north of Westchester? Fuck, no idea what county that is, which means upstate.
    exactly, like Brewster (?)

Ask Google Maps for directions from Akwesasne to Potsdam to Croghan. I went through some empty fkn places today... Truly core, Upstate stuff

You sure you aren’t in Erie, or even the Upstates outposts of NE Ohio?

Right? When I was in the Bronx I wouldn't say the city. I would say the Bronx. Does anybody call Staten Island the city?

The what? I'd never been there before. I made my shop visit, had some ice cream and moved on. Apparently I need to go back.

Erie, as in County New York?? PA has state inspection so the worst of the rusted out body panels are in Ohio as you state or New York. Not that you do not see pretty bad rust buckets in PA, but they have the inside on the state inspection sites that will pass anything and slap a sticker on it for another year.

Well, the island folk aren’t all united either. Don’t get an east-ender riled up about the up-island people.

So, when you live there there's 'the island' and there's 'out on the island'. Or there's those aforementioned 'up-islanders' and 'us'. Having spent no time on the North Fork I don't know what they call themselves but we never went there so it didn't really count.

That's kind of a sticky subject. Actually I have no idea, I've only driven through a few times over the last 35 years since I moved off The Island.
