For a southern Ontarian 600' of vertical is certainly worth fighting for.

Holimont's spring carnival looks waaaaaaay less fun than Holiday Valley's.

In all seriousness, they already open it up to Joe Public M-F, it's just a matter of time. And judging by the size of the houses being built along the trails at HoliMont, someone will be asking for that lift-served path over the ridge sooner than later.

    Probably.

I wanna go to both, it would be easier for me to do that if they were connected. They're supposed to want to make it easier, right? They should just connect.

Fir night skiing I'd need the clear lenses fir my fancy Scott turbo fan giggles. I can't see well enough to ski without my glasses. And I fog something fierce without the fan. I didn't pay full retail, thank Dog.

Unfortunately warmer than anticipated temperatures and a poor technical choice to go with slalom instead of giant slalom skis kept the higher speeds just out of my grasp….

    Two things:

    1) Your pics make me miss night skiing. It has a sound, smell and feel all to its own.

    2) Shaking fists at busloads of out of control tailgunning teenagers goes hand in hand with night skiing. It gives you another reason to crack a beer at the car and regroup.

    Doesn't it?

Love that pic. Reminds me of my old home bump as a teenager where we'd pull our trucks up to the edge of the northernmost run, the "Executive Lot" for easy access to our lockers and beers back at the tailgate. Great times.

I think an unintended consequence of this expedition of a thread is that it has served as a testament to the little eastern bumps we all hold dear. m27s' pics are a reminder of that.

50.8 is solid work on that slope. Snow looks a little soft and warm. And you have a hard left there.

I've done the work boys. It's decidedly unpossible without building a bridge over one of those access roads for them there fancy houses in the Holidays Valley.

This looks like it could hit the same snags as the One Wasatch proposal. One positive is routing it thru the super flat area would keep the snowboarders isolated at their respective areas.

It’s the stories of the gangs of teenagers that remind me of my youth…

Shit, there's a lift directly over President Ford's house at the Beav, those homeowners would see it as a badge of honor. "I've got a high-speed quad running through my backyard, what do you have, a water feature? Pfft."

Looks like they put up with the grinding noise for some time before suspecting a problem?

The newspaper delivery guy who drives down my street at 6AM every morning has a bad wheel bearing or two. Who the fuck gets a newspaper anymore btw? It sounds like he's dragging a section of metal HVAC duct under the car. I'm just hoping when it finally seizes he hits a neighbor's mailbox and not mine.

If I had to guess, there's probably a very strong subscription base for newspapers in the Upstate.
