Places like Ellicottville, Lake Placid, Old Forge, etc. might already be "ruined".
If my hometown gets T-shirt shops, taffy shops and art galleries, things are really fucked.
I will say after 5 weeks back in WNY this summer, a permanent return would no longer prompt "kicking and screaming". Just kicking.

We may have to start being careful about this in a decade or two. Let’s keep that in mind.

This has already happened to places like New Paltz, Saugerties and (less upstate) Piermont. Traffic jams every weekend.

I can totally relate to bailing at lock 3 on a 5 lock tour.

What I find amusing about this is that if I had my kids with me I’d probably have made them stick with it to the end of the walk. I guess I’m a hypocrite.
