Until this war I thought parts of my family were Russian but they were actually Ukrainian but it wasn't independent when they left in ~1908. So now I'm not part Orc anymore

That's a nice little field. I was able to play on it a couple times. It's pretty resonable to rent for a game.

One memory I have, as my parents lived in C-town in the late 80's -90's and dad woul;d usually get tickets to all the events. They had a HR hitting contest before HoF game. It was maybe late 80's? and it was Dale Murphy vs Dave Winfield. People were watching from the shed roofs on these houses, among them some chicks in bikini's laying on towels. It wasn't long before D and D were bouncing some off those houses and onto the roofs. Gotta be 425' ish or more.

I have a feeling it’s a combination of first week for the kids back in school and everyone is gearing up for maple syrup and decorative gourd season.

That's a southern thing...kids in the Upstate don't go to school for a couple weeks yet. Plus isn't the demographic here more slanted to grandkids?

I’m just here to help keep the average age down a bit.

It is funny, I was with my fam from up north at the beach the other week and we spent a day getting my son ready to start school last week and all his cousins were like, WTF, we’ve got 3 more weeks of summer vacation left.

He looked to me for some guidance and I reminded him that we’ll be on the beach by Memorial Day while they have a month of school left.

Six of one, half a case of UC of the other...

    Sadly, no.

They did get some kind of "its freezing as shit days" last year or the year before when the roads iced over.

I was at that game. Yeah, people watching from the rooftops was always a cool thing.

I have this super cool memory that some googling couldn't verify but I swear happened:

The stands are really small. If you go up to the top of the third base stands you can look over the back and easily see the main entrance, which is just a tunnel from the paved drive straight to home plate. So I'm sitting up in the upper row (no assigned seats, just areas) scoring the game with my family and grandfather, the Pirates are playing, and they are down a run or two. We are kinda bummed because a star or two isn't playing. It's like the 4th or 5th inning and the Pirates are batting. We notice a limo pull up outside the entrance behind us. Out steps Parker in a full uniform, including cleats. He walks directly through the tunnel to the on deck circle which we can also see from our seats. Swings the bat a few times there and then he's up. He proceeds to watch a couple pitches go by, then on the third pitch he just laces it into right center, over the wall, onto the rooftops, and the Pirates take the lead.

He then rounds the bases, walks directly out of the stadium through the tunnel into the waiting limo, which we hadn't noticed was still there, and drives off.

    I shit you not.

That's what we referred to as "slurry" growing up.

Our kids (mountains of colorado) are in school as of today.

And, occasionally we get snow days and the mountain is mobbed with groms sending.

preparations for this year’s capitalistic pumpkin slaughter are indeed well underway. we are all eagerly awaiting the impending impalement of the gourds upon these hallowed stakes…

Will the pumpkins be whole, painted or carved when they get impaled?

I remember pictures from a previous years bloodbath at that location from the early days of the expedition. Will ritualistic offerings be made as well?

Or is that what the cider and donuts are for?
