I needed to pee and wanted a beer and there it was. I peed, drank a beer and continued on my way.

This does seem to be a safe space for a certain segment of the population

Let's just forget for a moment that there's a website called newyorkupstate.com, and focus on how this poor thing probably isnt't going to end well.

we are accepting of inebriation, poor decisions that lean towards fun in all areas of life, buying too much gear, regional disparities in most things, husky latin women, etc.
    but we tolerate no malarky.

Whatever. No one cares, but it's one of those two. North Country is also disputed - it's either Canada, Northern NY or Upstate, but again no one gives a hoot about the 117,000 cows and 47 people that live there as long as the Adirondacks are open for visitors, so the disagreement is largely academic.

I say it's time to stop the senseless bloodbath and violence and move on from the geography to instead talk about what really makes upstate Upstate. It's not a place as much as a state of mind. Things like the Breakaway Lounge, the #2 dive bar in the Utica area per this definitive list:

I always hated what they defined as southern tier. It ignores the actual geometry of the state.

What do you propose as a new name for the Southern Tier?

I like calling it the 17 corridor even though most of it is I86 now. The road is definitely not Interstate quality and doesn't deserve the designation.

Some sections are already up to standard but most definitely aren't. They're working on Upstate time... It is a really pretty road though and there's never any traffic other than through Binghamton. I use it as often as possible if I'm heading to Western NY.

    This list goes on.

Problem really stems from being married to county lines.

This map has issues. I have issues with this map. And yea I admit I have issues too.

I thought that was weird too. But we are working the macro view here, man.

Should we meet at Prop's to get this figured out?
