SI doesn't really fit into anyplace so it's just SI. It's a pain in the ass to get to from anywhere else in the state other than Brooklyn and then only if you drive. Ooh boy the ferry is free but that's a bigger pita because when you get there you're basically stranded without a car.

You've put more thought into the place then I have my entire life, lol.

I spent the first 18 years of my life in the city, set foot in SI exactly once (5 borough bike tour, of course). Second time ever was this summer with my daughter. We rode the ferry there, got off (because they make you), and got back on. Nice boat ride.

There is this photo guy on Youtube that I follow from SI. Carmine, go figure. Whenever he does local location work he always labels it "Beautiful Richmond County, NY". I had to google it!
