TGR has become the consummate argue about everything website.

Used to live in Balston Spa in another life. Figured that was upstate from most of NY.

No one is arguing, we just don't know what parts of the state are what, exactly.

Huckbucket's map is helping us get there though.

Now, who wants wings and cheap beer for lunch?

All this talk of Utica Club and Genny Cream brings me back to the infamous Matt's Beerball. Matt's is the parent company that makes UC as a premium beer. They named their shittier cheaper beer after themselves. And they put the shittiest of that in the beerballs.

The best thing about them was shooting them with a pellet gun when they were empty, the pellet could go through the plastic to get inside there but it wouldn't have enough power to go though the other side to get back out so it would just spin around inside the ball at high speed making this weird sound that only a Matt's beerball shot with a pellet gun can make.

"There are 3, only 3, great draft beers in the entire world. One of them comes in this contraption."

    I'd buy that beer.

I remember those Beerballs. Gotta admit it was a good idea for the time.

What do you think they considered the other two "great draft beers" to be? You've got to assume one of them is Guinness. I'd go with Pilsner Urquell for the other, but who knows what they were thinking.

Yeah and by the time you got to the second one, and started shooting the first one, the beer went down easy.

When did the good people at Coors appropriate this technology? Cause those were the only beerballs we had growing up.

we drilled a hole in a matt's beer ball and inserted a long threaded stem piece with a bowl at the end

at the top we cut a hole large enough so you could insert your head into the beer ball and sealed the "space helmet" up with towels around your shoulders.

last step was light bowl and see how long you could wear the space helmet

I've been to that Quaker Steak and Lube.

We were in Erie for a wedding a lifetime ago and the one takeaway we got from the area was that there was a bar we went to after the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception because $20 got you a round of beers and shots for 8 people and still had enough to leave a $5 tip. Scorchers, I think.

I agree. I was just pointing out that it’s a shithole. What’s your ruling on Rockland County? You have to switch trains in NJ to get here by rail.
